Hi all, new to this forum, just a general query about benchpressing, im considered suitabley strong for senior football, im about 5'10" and 80kgs....when i get all that water out:P.
I go to the gym regularly although wasnt a great benchpresser until i recently started, i can barely manage 8x40kgs to be honest. Tho everything else im pretty good at.
Anybody with any tips or techniques to help improve this?
    Thanks in advance:)

Try doing 5 x 5 's and increasing the weight each week.

only increase the weight once you get full 5 reps on each set.

even if the increase is only 2 1/2 kilo its still an increase.

Try to strengthen your triceps too, doing some dips will assist in your overall bench strength, benching more is not simply adding more weight and getting used to it....

maybe I was being to simplistic... but strengthening your triceps will certainly add weight to your overall benching strength..
