What checks?

    Hi there,

I have posted here before, I'm in the running for a job, I know I'm in the last three, they have already checked my references with no sign of an offer.

I'm just wondering whether there might be any other checks - it's a semi-state almost public sector - will they look for a health check, criminal records or tax clearance or anything else? If so how long do these take?

I went to work for an airline once and had an amazingly thorough health check, they tested eyesight, hearing, for infectious diseases, etc, am just wondering what to expect (and also when if I do get an offer it might be?)....

    Thanks

In the semi state I work in, usually it's just a reference check, there are no medicals etc.

Depends on the company and position though.

edited to add: Actually I've worked in two semi states and it was the same for both.

I worked for a semi state before and had to do a medical. Job offer process was a bit drawn our form what I can remember (was a long time ago) but it was more to do with red tape than anything else.

Thanks guys. They've asked for a health check - I'm not sure whether it's going to be a medical or just a questionnaire yet. My last interview was over two weeks ago so it looks like it's going to be drawn out as you say Mel..............

it could be a garda background check - I had to have one done for a position previously.
