It could be me being more observant having made the switch but it feels like more people are posting about going FTA, are peeps abandoning subscription
packs be it cable or Sky to cut costs or is it a case of deciding to go for free secondary systems to bedrooms, back rooms etc?

For me it was an upgrade!

Never had Sky or Cable. Didnt want another monthly bill!

Also got fed up with the 4 Irish channels on rabbits ears.

Switched last w/e, reason being sh1te ntl service and future proofing viewing choice, things are alright job wise now but who knows down the road and life without the BBC just can't be contemplated. I'm taking up homebrewing for similar reasons

We canceled the sub late late year, FreeSat, DDT (when in comes) and Bittorrent give me more TV than i have time to watch...

Yep, we bit the bullet recently..

We cancelled Sky HD, using that as a FTA box in my kitchen...

...Got a Freesat HDR for the main room...

...using an aerial for the 4 Irish channels (will get DTT when it progresses).

I also have a Lidl FTA box upstairs.

No monthly fees and getting the vast majority of the channels we watch in all rooms.

    I'm a happy camper. :)

Its pointless paying for Sky now. We're really thinking hard about giving it up.

How much is that foxat PVR now.

Any sign of it coming down in price. Or newer freesat PVRs coming out?

I got rid of ntl digital recently and went fta satellite. Never looked back. System already paid for itself 10 times over. And theres plenty of channels.

Have a an old sky box downstairs which is grand for the good epg, and a LIDL comag box upstairs.

Well there are panasonic boxes on the way but they are pretty expensive because they have an integrated fblu ray recorder. Dont know of any other freesat pvrs on the way but theyre must be some given the popularity of the humax pvr

I reckon this is the cheapest place for the humax. Check out the Richer Sounds forum to see how to go about getting one

I was paying for 2 sky subs, one in my house and one in the Mother's. Switched her to freeview as a result of the recession, and she doesn't know the difference really.
