Some GBB Chrono readings

Had borrowed Chrono last weekend as I was worried my WA
pistol was hot as it packed a savage Kick (well for an airsoft device)
thankfully all was OK. I was also worried there was something wrong with
my STAR AW338 and there is!

On my Star I needed to get it downgraded before it came into the country
there is some form of restricted valve in the bolt. So when chronoing it
Im getting something like 110fps with a .2g BB  :(

I was using a real steel Chrono, This gave me some difficulty as it did not always
detect the BB passing through it as it was a sunny day, the defuser was white, the bb was white, and it was hard to judge getting the flight path going across each sensor.
I was getting a lot of errors and duplicate results.

I must at some stage get myself a specific airsoft chrono its just they are so damn expensive for what they are. Thinking about it I think an airsoft chrono works in a slightly different way to a real steel chrono.

In the airsoft ones it looks like a dark tube that has an internal light source.
Not sure if its visable light or not. And it detects the passage of the projectile.

Where as in real steel chrono its detecting the change in the light thats already
present as the projectile passes over the sensors. Someone with one may be able to
confirm or explain if they are different as I'm only guessing. I'm wondering because
of this set up is the measurement as accruate if using a white bb.

Anyway measured 5 shots using 134a and Propane at a 20 degrees C.
Hopup was off in all cases where I could adjust a hop up unit.
It was a sunny day at the time and warm.

I had some of them done but realised I did not
    have the hop up off.

    What make is your chrono?
i know you can get RS ones that measure 30fps all the way up to 2000+fps for handy enough money from the UK

Not sure of the make, I know its owner bought it from the UK it was about 150 Euros,
very light plastic, in fact last time I borrowed it from him, I had an accident and a BB
hit the plastic and left a dent. Cant see a way of calibrateing it externally either
as it only has an on/off switch. Does not have any buttons or reset features that
    I can see.

Just an idea here, but if you're worried about the accuracy of using white bbs with a white background why not try some of those green coloured 'invisible' bbs?
