    Got Sky HD installed yesterday,

Iv noticed now that when i change channel the screen will go black and the sound cuts for a moment, its as if its refreshing or something,

Iv tried tinkering with the settings, Output on the sky is 1080i (NOT AUTO) and the TV is on a widescreen format, again not auto.
It happens when changing from SD to HD, HD to SD, SD to SD and HD to HD

    Its extremely annoying!

seems a normal part of it

1080i is what i have set it to

just keep it on the hd channels :D

Pretty sure this is just something to do with the output switching to a HD format.

Example: If using the normal channels I won't get the black screen/sound clicking before channel displays.

But if I am using the HD channels the screen might go black, I will get a 720p/1080p text appearing on the screen and then the channel will appear.

Seeing as so many people have this issue why hasnt it been fixed. Is it the TV's fault or the Sky Box, as a matter of interest do ye all have Pace boxes. I heard the samsung and Thomson boxes dont have the issue. Dunno if thats true tho

It isn't fixed because I don't think it is a problem, ie: it isn't broken! ;)

I get the same thing when using my 360 & PS3, when I load a game the screen goes blank and switches to the appropriate output settings, before displaying the content.

just phoned sky there they only suggested getting a new box(too much hassle for me) so i played around with the settings a bit the solution i found is to go to picture settings and change scart control to on

    it works fine now

just thought i'd share the solution that works for me

Are you not using a HDMI cable?

yeah me to. seemed too easy. I've a Pace box and Sony Bravia LCD v5500. Annoying but tolerable. Not worth a new box really is it.

Anyone find the HD box really loud at times?

    scart/rf1 picture format: 16:9
    rf2 picture format: 16:9
    scart control: on
    scart video output: pal
    contrast: medium
    search&scan banner timeout:5 seconds
    on-screen icon timeout: off
    message alert: on
    hd resolution output: 1080i

    hope that helped:)

edit: some of the settings were making smilies lol

Why? Are you sure you're watching the HDMI feed and not the Scart feed?

Either when you turn your TV on first, or when you change from analogue channels to Sky, what do you have to put the TV to? Or, what channel does it start/auto-switch to?

If it says AV/Ext1, AV/Ext2, it's most likely using Scart. HDMI channels are usually labelled as such, in some cases.

You could always just press AV button on your TV remote to go thru your external input options.

i knew it was too easy lol it was on scart still blinks on hdmi

i hope some1 can come up with a workaround for this cause my planner is way too full to consider getting a new box for something this small

You can turn the mini screen off on the new guide!!! Still though i dont want to have this issue. Im paying enough for sky and i paid enough for m tv i should be able to get the most out of both!
