Anyone running this and how are they finding it?

Im looking to hook up the G5 to a PC tower, the PC will hold 60% of my vsti's and the mac will run the rest and the audio side of things....

Im thinking there should be zero latency going this route as opposed to running a midiman interface between the 2?!?

    Cheers

So will the mac copy across the vst into memory when it needs to run (saving hdd space on the mac) or is the PC going to be running the vst (sharing the processing load) and it will send the result (i.e. the sound) back to the Mac?

If its the second case, there will definitely be a delay. Could be quite low (a few miliseconds) however. It'll vary but it'll always be there. Maybe there are programs to reduce this but don't expect it to perform the same as if it were running natively on the mac. Maybe you could delay the output of the Mac to sync up with the PC or something.

The Mac will run some VSTi's and all Audio, then the PC will host all other VSTi's and sound libraries...

Soundcard to desk from PC using multi outs....

Oh right, thats pretty cool actually. Theres still going to be a delay but it should be halved because you're only sending it rather than receiving as well.

to be honest ive looked at the latency thing....

its lower than any soundcard out there, but im just worried about it being consistant so was wondering if anyone is running it....

last thing i want it to be like is the old SRCat and have some kind of sync probs :(

i got it today, but the instructions are probably the worst ive ever seen

ive followed them and it doesnt work, but thats coz its left out a massive chunk of stuff so far as i can tell

if anyone has made it work between a mac and pc, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let me know how

Open sound control was made for this sort of thing, might be worth having a look at that and converting the osc back to midi at the vsti host.
