your dish is most likely to small and FTA premiership is difficult to find.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭Borgman100

You would need a dish around 80cm although bigger would be better in bad weather.

Cards can be purchased through providers...for example google 'digitalb cards'.

You are very unlikely to get FTA premier league games on any satellite, as most sports channels that show them have encryption that needs a subscription card to decode it.

Any talk about receiving encrypted channels for free i think is banned from this forum so best not to ask!

No receivable FTA in Europe at all i'm affraid, 0 zilch, zip :(

www.liveonsat.com has a list of whats on where and on what satellite
www.dishpointer.com will give you an idea what you can receive
www.satcodx.com will give you a list of stations on each sat

Several cards can be sourced on ebay (although may not be the cheapest source), for premiership C+ (Canal+) in any of the scandanavian countries (except finland) seems to be the best and is easily received with an 80cm+ dish in the Dublin area (may need a bigger dish the further west you go). Another option is digitalb (cheap + cheerful) but it has no 3pm sat games this season and is unlikely to have any next year either

Spain actually shows the Premiership on terrestrial tv for free. Its on LA 2 and TeleDeporte. Both channels are on Spanish TDT (FREESAT) on Hispasat 30W I heard but you might need a TDT box.

It's a digital terrestrial box for Spain as far as I can see.

    TDT = Televisión Digital Terrestres.

Maybe the channels are on various platforms, like 30W as mentioned.

No mention of many free channels showing live English PL according to LJ's. Sportsmax on 53°W is mentioned for some.

http://liveonsat.com/daily.php?start_dd=25&start_mm=04&start_yyyy=2009&end_dd=25&end_mm=04&end_yyyy=2009 (this Saturday's games and channels showing. Hover over channel name to see what satellite and freq it is)

TDT is the Spanish equivalent of the UK Freeview system I think it is. Digital Terrestrial Television. All it is is a small DVB receiver which you connect one end to the tv and the other to the slot in the wall much like we done for years except we go wall direct to tv. It gives stations in digital format for free and usually contains more stations than normally available off the old connection. Anyway TDT is now being moved to satellite also so a different receiver will be required much like the French TNT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%A9l%C3%A9vision_Num%C3%A9rique_Terrestre. Its suppose to be being tested on Hispasat 30W.

Ah. Interesting. I'd wonder if a specific box or a FTV card system will be used (ie. not any FTA receiver would pick the channels up).

I reckon your right as thats exactly what they done with the French TNT. Its on 19.2E but you need an official TNT box which comes with a four year subscription card found here http://www.totalsat.co.uk/tntsat-receiver-48m-card-p-109.html . That site is a rip-off as they are selling them in Madrid for as low as €145. The Spanish TDT on satellite will most likely be something similar as they are talking about adding pay-channels to it also as an option especially PPV football.

Africable on 7e is FTA & has EPL Live on it.

The picture is the worst you'll ever see though.

Dont pay money to nobody as streams are available for free if you know were to look. They vary from poor to v.good in quality.

you need to make sure your receiver will accept a viewing card. If it is a lidl FTA receiver i doubt you can use a viewing card. Your best calue for money would be Hotbird (13east) & then art sports card. Coverage is in French though. a card will cost around 90e for 12months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭darklordsbane

Get a technomate receiver cant say anymore than that as ive posted a reply to you last week but it was removed for legality reasons
    regards D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,138 ✭✭✭snaps

yes a technomate will be fine with an art card on 13east.

No, no, no. Art lost the bulk of their prem rights. They might show a few games but Showtime arabia has the main rights and broadcasts all 380 games. Its on Nilesat 7w so all the best with picking that up. Digitalb shows abour 4-5 games per week and are on 16E which is easily doable. Official cards can be bought off the net.

Is audio in English on Digitalb

When did art loose their rights? Thought they had signed till 2012?

Digitalb is very poor as they pull matches at last minute & their picture quality is poor to say the least.

digitalb is around 250£ a year

art is 90£ a year (only 4 matches at the weekend, but more during the week) usually around 10 a week in average.

ART did lose their rights directly, to Showtime.

However, ART must've did some kinda deal with Showtime, as it now carries a Showtime channel as part of its package (Showtime Magreb IIRC).

The Magreb channel shows a few EPL games (early Sat, late Sat and maybe the Sunday games, but not any 3pm Sat games).

DigitAlb are indeed hit and miss, with regards coverage. Card prices got quite dear since 2 years ago.

Maybe if you knew somebody in Italy, Sky Italia would be a good choice, as resellers charge quite a hefty price for this subscription. Don't know how much it is if you reside in Italy.

What matches they show? Live? Never came across this one. Ill check it out at the weekend, see what the craic is.

Ill be watching the offical sub route closely over the summer. I cant afford to be leaking money at the moment. My canal+ sub is over in June, but wont be renewing it again.

Digitalb really would be last resort for me. But if showtime magreab still has the amount of games that they do, ill possibly go with that and an aljazerra sub as well.

does anybody if digialb has premiership next year as my card will be up in june.

    AFAIK, yes.

The rights were until 2010, like other Euro broadcasters, including Sky/Setanta. After that, God knows - their rivals, Tring, could win them.

I've read that Canal are moving to paired cards to specific boxes, so their sub card would be less appealing.

Like Snaps, I'll just keep an eye over providers over the summer. I don't think I'll sub to Digitalb again next year, except as a last resort.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

I checked out the african one and its legit. They showed Newcastle v Pompey on monday night. More good news for anyone in Spain - Goltv who show some prem games on their sub are moving to Spanish TDT for next season and will broadcast their prem games for free alongside TVEs channels La 2 and TeleDeporte. Only La liga games will require a payment.

does anybody have showtime in south east ireland and if so what size dish are they using.

    Already a thread on it:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055538115

Its near enough impossible to get any kind of signal here even on a 2.5m dish. And even if you did get a signal the rain would play havoc in reception.

    Theres no point even trying.

just done a blind scan on 7% west lots of channels open including cnn and fox on 12549h11899 but no show time. this may be a help when setting up you will know you are on the right satellite.

That transponder is not on 7 West. I think you might be on 15 West 12547 H 11900.

No transponders like those on 7 west or the typical bleed over satellite 8 west.

Nilesat is not receivable here unless you have a 2.5m dish in good weather.

I dont think so. This is the list of transponders on 7 West, which one do you think you're on?.

    http://www.lyngsat.com/nile.html

This is 15 West, have a look at 12547 and see if that is the list of channels you have?

I got an Amiko Alien Satellite receiver in the post yesterday, i tried setting it up all the UK free to air channels came up on the Astra 28.2. The Irish channels came up on the listings but have a dollar symbol next to it a lot of the pay per view channels have this symbol. I thought i would at least get the Saroview Channels on my Alien Box. Any suggestions please.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 37 Lindenblad

You will only get Saorview if the box is a satellite/terrestrial combi, & you will need to connect a UHF aerial to the relevant input.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭Stuxnet

You cant get Saorview from a satellite (astra 28.2), is that what you are trying to do ?

As per two previous posts - Saorview is terrestrial tv (need an aerial and appropriate receiver or TV).

Just a word of advice as I see this is your first posting - you should start a new thread with a relevant title rather than resurrecting a 5 year old thread about football on satellite. ;)

if you put in your tv aerial into the back

go to menu install and do a terestrial install

in config select region uk lcn off and tuner (5v) on

    and do an auto installation

to switch between terestrial and satellite u hit the SAT button on yuor remote and chose which u want to view
