Mazda 6 or Honda Accord

They are both quite different cars but similar.

I would be looking at the 2.4l models of both but ( yeah yeah ) with Auto.

Cars are so much cheaper here in Oz and I would be looking for an Accord Euro or a Mazda 6 sports luxury. I reckon 2-4 years old perhaps the HA being a bit older as a noption as it is a bit pricier.

Im not a car knowledgeable person but a few traits I would expect:

Im into a sporty drive with my last being a 318 coupe, Im looking forward to all the extra oomph now... .

All round versatility of the boot space and fold flat back seats for lugging surfboards, music gear, w/e away at the beach gear and sports gear. Wagon is not an option ( the woman has conceded to go to a sedan but will not stand for the wagons ) Does the HA even come in Wagon ??

Cabin noise, I hate a noisy cabin for road noise no harm in haring a bit of grunt though !

The Auto options in each how do they compare to each other and are they similar to step / tip tronic ?

"Flashness" of the cabin. Noice lights and good gizmos in there. AC is a must. Love my music too so sound sytem, i pod compatibility any of that...bue tooth ?

Reliability of course, will cover way more miles than at home. I drove the length of Ireland twice today getting to a job and back !

Im going test driving soon and want to have a bit of info 1st.

It would make ya sick how much I could hope to pick these up for here with much higher specs and entry levels with largere engines...

Im thinking the HA may win on most but I have aslo read good things about the M6 particulalry the drive..

Any advice from owners of either on the goods and bad is greatly appreciated.

    cheers
    DM

    Accord. No question.

Have a look at the 'Diesel Consumption' thread about the Mazda.

Isnt there some crazy Ozzy V8 you should be aiming for instead!?

Yeah, something RWD perhaps - both of these cars are FWD.

Get some kind of ozzie ute, you can throw everything in the back then :)

(btw, the estate version of the euro Accord is called the Accord Aerodeck)

If I lived in oz, I would get the monaro or VXR8 for the oooooooooomph!

I have a Mazda 3 MPS, I assume the 6 MPS is more of the same, quiet on the motorways, good interior, fast, plus its AWD, should provide excitement!

My friends Honda Accord Type R is all all of the above, except his is 2001 so not same standard of interior or as fast, and louder still great car, but I have only heard good things about the 2005 onwards Accords.

    But seriously......what about the VXR8?

The Mazda doesn't come in a 2.4. 2.3 in the old model and 2.5 in the new. What age of each car are you looking at?

What a stupid post. Firstly the OP isn't looking for a diesel anything. And secondly, one person has a car which is getting poor mpg and you assume they're all bad?

Meh. He didn't say he wasn't looking for a diesel either. And the Accord is a far better car anyway. What's stupid about that?

Read his post again. You don't know much about cars, do you?
