Hi, wondering if anyone has tried any of these yet, how they got on, what they are like etc?

I'm looking at 70-648 and 70-646 as apparently it allows me to upgrade my MCSA to "MCITP Enterprise Administrator".
70-648 is the actual upgrade exam, and is apparently a combination of two exams: "70-640: TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring" & "70-642: TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring".

    Static M.e has them both

But yup you are correct, the upgrade is just a combination of the 2 exams and then you have 2 do 1 PRO level exam to get the MCITP SA (rather than EA)

For EA you need the upgrade + 1 more MCTS and then a PRO level exam provided you have 70-620 in your MCSA otherwise its off to vista exam camp for you!

    Hold on ... I'm lost....

    I have the following:

    70-270
    70-620
    70-290
    70-291
    70-293

Now, I was going to do the 70-294 & 70-297 as soon as I get a day off to give me MCSE (I'm currently MCSA)... But I might consider upgrading to the 2008 MCSE equiv from MCSA if thats possible?

But then ... I guess I'll have wasted money on the 293.

    Hmmm....

If you want MCITP EA from MCSE

You need 1 upgrade (70-649) and 1 PRO exam (again assuming you have the vista client)

To get to MCITP EA from MCSA

Take 70-648, do exam 70-643 and then exam 70-647 to get MCITP EA

so from MCSA now its a 3 exam track, from MCSE its a 2 exam track.

All this assumes you have 70-620 as either your client or elective in the MCSA/MCSE tracks

Hmmm.... I think I complete the MCSE so and then upgrade to MCITP EA. :)

I used 70-620 as the elective for MCSA.

    Thanks!

I did the upgrades and got EA and SA. I found them straight forward enough - the format of the questions is more to the point that the 'essays' :D you get in the 2003 exams.

In the sense that XP 70-270 was easier than 2003 70-290, and good preparation for it, which would you recommend doing first:
    70-648 or 70-646?

70-648 is the upgrade exam and gives the foundations for 70-646 so I'd be going for 648 first.

I read on some other web forum that 70-648 is combination of the 70-640 and 70-642 exams. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks. Apart from the MS Press book, can anyone recommend any training materials for 70-648?
    Thanks, Donagh.

Any upgrade exam contains its constituent exams meaning that if it gives you 640 & 642 then its both those exams probably with 35/40 questions as opposed to the usual 50+

Its the same exam but combined into one so you can do it cheaper
