Are regular candles still made from Bees Wax, need to waterproof thread in order to make repairs. If not, is there any shops that sell bees wax. Preferably in stick form.

    Thanking you

    :)

regular candles are made from a parafin wax as far as i know. you can buy beeswax candles easy enough. you can also buy blocks of beeswax in most arts and crafts stores.
now, waterproofing thread. is it so the thing you are stitching is waterproof? if so, you will need to tape the seams more than wax the thread. if its just to minimise thread rot, you can use regular parafin wax too, but whatever you use it will wear off quick enough probably. i wax thread to minimise thread snagging, but then i tend to use a thicker thread, and i use it doubled.
just putting that extra info out there just in case it is helpful.

    I tried Reed's/O Sullivan's/Baumans/Nimble Fingers.

Do you think health food shops may have some?

its possible. try the healthfood shop on georges street. dunno its name, but its a goodly sized one. be warned, all things bee related are in serious short supply at the moment. most people dont realise how bad it is. my mom lost all her hives last year. bees are having it hard, so it may be more tough to source anything related.

i saw beeswax in a tin in woodies down off the n7/m50 junction, next to the paint strippers and furniture polishes.

health food shops do sell small sticks of beeswax.

I tend to buy anything I want online. I had thought I'd found an Irish supplier but I can't find it now. I have used

compared to a source I found online from uk.

Your best bet would be to contact a beekeeper directly I think, you should be able to find a local group here http://www.irishbeekeeping.ie/
