I'd say you need to allow more time than that. I was queuing to get through security for 45mins for an early morning flight before, I then noticed that there was probably another 25-20mins of queue left and the flight was due to go in 10 mins so skipped the rest. It gets very very busy in the mornings with so many people having checked in online and thinking it's therefore really quick to get through. Actually all the online checkin and fewer people travelling with checked bags has meant that you get some really daft long queues now at peak times as everyone turns up as late as possible.

yes agree . id give myself 2hrs, the airport is very busy first thing, plus if you hav time to spare after security grab a coffee while everyone else is stressing in the security line! rather be too early than late:mad:

I can't imagine how you'd need more than an hour to get through security for a 6:15 flight in Dublin.
    Is it really that bad?

would give a hr and half at the very least, you hav to be at the gate 30min b4 departure, and would def give an hr to clear security and get to the gate. i didnt think it would be busy that early till i was there last yr we had 2 hrs coz we were checking in glad we did.

When I was there the queues for both sets of security gates were being snaked back and forth several times in between the checkin desk sections and up nearly to the main terminal entrance doors.

Yes, the queues get very long indeed. You may get lucky and miss the long queues by 5 minutes, but get there another 5 minutes later any you'll be stuck there for a long time. Just the time that it took me to take my skis from the checkin desk to the oversized baggage area and back again, no more than 5 minutes, added about 15 minutes to how far further back in the security queue I was as I was timing how long it was between each time I passed someone who was behind me in the initial checkin queue but then in front of me in the security queue.

Get there early and chill out.

Yes. It's actually peak time for outgoing flights between 6.00 and 7.00 am.

I recently had a flight at 6.30am, I got to the airport at 5.30am and just about made the flight, I was one of the last people on the plane. I was flying with aer lingus and I didn't have far to go once I cleared security, I would imagine if I was flying ryanair that I would of missed the flight as you have to go a lot further to get to the ryanair gates.

...and just by way of example. http://www.dublinairport.com/flight-information/live-departures.asp

For tomorrow morning there are 27 flights leaving between 5:55 and 6:59 then about the same again before 8am, it is then a lot quieter for the rest of the day. 50% of the flights before 7am though are Ryanair, so you'll have the majority of people having checked in on line and printed out their own boarding cards all thinking they can get away with turning up at the airport the 40minutes before the flight leaves. The majority of those 27 flights are before 6:30 though so you will have a very busy security zone at just before 6am with far too many people leaving it until the last minute.
