Am due to travel to an EU country with my wife and two nieces. Will I need documentation from my nieces parents to prove that we have their consent to bring them abroad and am not abducting them.

I have checked the internet but cannot seem to find anything.

    Thank you.

Guardianship letter should cover all aspects including accidents i.e emergency hospital treatment.

Well I often take my Nephews and Nieces to France and never have to get anything other than their passports from their parents.

This also includes my Fiancee's Newphes and Nieces and never has any issues either.

It would be worth having a letter. A few years ago, I was nearly 17 and travelling with my father, when we got to security I was brought into an interview room and asked if was I travelling of my own free will. Even though I told them I was and that I go on holidays with just my father every summer we still had to wait for my mum to come to Dublin Airport to confirm this. As a result we missed our flight and connecting flight in Singapore and threw the whole trip off by two days.

Though on the plus I am glad that they do have this level of security in place, as some other child may not be travelling of their own free will!
