I'm looking for some fitness equipment for the new studios.....

Can anyone tell me where's the best place to buy a few Reebok steps (not the mini type step you can buy in Argos) and some hand weights, the moulded type, not plated 2kilos - 10 kilos.

    Thanks

    maeve

Irish lifting do the hex dumbbells (metal handle one soled piece of rubber around each end) I know it only say’s 2 to 10 there but afaik he can get heaver (he was selling the previously)

Little woods are selling them but they are a bit on the expensive side , Mickk from Irish lifting may be able to source them for you

    Hex dumbbelles

    reebokstep

    ps

Tell us more about this new studio ??

Thats great thanks, I haven't seen that kind of weights before, I'll give them a bell tomorrow.

Last time I ordered something from Littlewoods they took my money and strung me along for months saying it was coming into stock and then eventually said they weren't getting it back in... really pissed me off so I'd prefer to get the steps elsewhere if possible.

We've just opened new training studios in Clonshaugh. 132 sqm matted area, mostly martial arts, we've got Aikido and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu right now, Boxing and Kickboxing starting next week with Mauro Sulcis (I've posted some video of him on the MMA and Self Defence forums). We will have fitness and conditioning classes starting very soon too, also a yoga for fighters class. We've got a small gym area too with a set of kettlebells... and hopefully next week we'll have the shop up and running with gear for martial arts and Under Armour etc.

If you want any other info, let me know :)

Apparently the metal bar won't do... so I'm back looking for somewhere that supplies the all plastic ones :o

 why not? I would much prefer a metal bar. All plastic ones are usually seen as cheapo ones, I think many are just filled with cement and maybe a metal rod to stiffen in the centre. I think you might be hard pushed to find 10kg plastic ones.

I can understand people not wanting metal plates due to noise when put down, but those hex ones are rubber coated. Also the hex shape means they can be used as pushup stands too.

You can also get stuff called plastidip which is like a paint which turns to rubber, I have some in work, not sure how long it would stand up to daily abuse. I was thinking of putting some on my chinup bar which is far too smooth. Or just wrap the handles in tennis handle tape, but I think it would get stinky soon.

I'm not sure where else to get it but in the badminton centre in Baldoyle they sell a Wilson grip which is very thin but provides a lot of grip, might be worthwhile taking a look. Tennis grips may be a bit thick.

Thanks guys, I think it's because the plastic/rubber ones are easier to grip when you've sweaty palms.

I've found an Irish site which sells the steps and dumbells up to 5 kg http://www.mcsport.ie, has anyone used them...? Recommend or steer clear?
