I have a HP Pavilion dv1420ca 4 year old laptop. Since last week I am facing problem with the LCD display. The screen remain blank but when I bring a torch in front of it, I can see the login screen. The screen does light up for a few seconds but goes back blank again.I have attached a external second monitor via the s-video cable and can see the display on it.

Can someone please recommed a solution or a person who can cheaply repair the LCD display

Thanks a lot for all your help.

sounds like the inverter is gone on the screen, there are wikis online of how to change them yourself if you would be up to buying a part on ebay.
