Will this be sold out in minutes?

how do you buy a seat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Laxie

The APAT powers that be are saying it will definitely sell out within minutes.

UK laser/debit card is the only way to purchase a seat online via the APAT homepage http://www.apat.com/

Des has worked something out for boards members:

The first 20 players to get their entry fee of €85 to Denise at the Fitzwilliam are guaranteed a seat. They will need to leave their email addresses along with their name if they are not currently APAT members.

There's not a great deal we can do about the debit card situation unfortunately, so this will hopefully give an option to some of the boards members who want to take part.

Also, don't forget the satellite tonight on Blue Square/GJP at 8pm. $10 +$1 NLH freezeout. Win your way to Dublin tonight and you won't have to worry about clickfests on Thursday.

    OK well I haven't a hope then! :(

So you have to go to Denise in Fitz and give her 85euro? just to clarify things. And there's no other way of entering?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,002 ✭✭✭fatguy

I'm gonna try to get a ticket with my UK card. I'm not 100% sure if I'll be attending, but if I decide to sell it I'll post it here first.

There are 4 ways to enter -

    1) Win a satellite.
Last of those is on tonight at 8pm.

    2) Buy a seat online tomorrow night when they go public at 9pm.
No credit cards accepted. Payment cards accepted are 'Delta', 'Electron' and 'Maestro'.

If you hold a 'Visa' debit card, then our understanding is that you should choose the 'Delta' payment option and not enter a 'Valid From' date.

Irish cards will not work due to Irish banking rules.

    3) Call in to Denise at the Fitz with €85 to secure your seat.
Only 20 seats on hold for boards members and not sure how long they'll be held as APAT has never done this before.

    4) Show up early on the day and get your name on the alternates list.

The holding of seats has never been done before. It's usually a straight forward online buy in, sold out within minutes and tough luck to the ones who don't get a seat.

The offer to put 20 aside for boards members was done to give more of you a chance of getting there.

So you can't use an irish bank card? Seems a bit retarded imo that for a tourney being held in Ireland you have to have a UK bank a/c.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Laxie

Only one leg of the APAT tour is in Ireland and the payment processor APAT uses isn't Irish based.

It's unfortunate that our banks won't let us use our cards for payments outside of Ireland, but luckily you have the option to walk right into the Fitz and book your seat. :)

Ugh. Just went out in 17th. Witnessed some shocking bad beats, including my own exit. A8 < A5s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Laxie

Ugh. Explains why I couldn't find you. Smurf still going, but blinds are getting a bit crazy now. Not much room for poker...just shove or fold. Hang in there Chicka!!!

If I were to get a seat on Seat exchange, could I possibly let myself be blinded out for the first two hours of the tournament as I've got engagements earlier in the day and will probably be able to make it to the Fitz at 4pm-ish?

    Thanks

Did you get a ticket Smurph?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,079 ✭✭✭smurph

That wasn't me who was playing it was Martin...

My username is Camogie31 on GJP, his is Smurph31 or something like that. He asked me if I new a fatguy from boards,

I started a pc reply, well there is lots of men and women on boards who like myself could shed a few pounds, but could he narrow the range down a bit....

The reply came something like No a guy who's Boards name is Fatguy ya spa..... or something to that effect.

I don't know if I actually know who you are, but I said yep, he's posts quite a bit..... he mentioned you were on his table....

Anyways he went out 11th I think, something like that.

As long as you're paid up and have confirmed the exchange with APAT, it's ok if you're late. If you'd like to be extra sure, you can send me a PM with your real name and APAT forum name and I'll be sure to follow up with Des on the day.

Ah ok. No we don't know each other in real life, I just recognised the name, figured it was you, and said hello and gave a bit of encouragement. My username gets some good reactions, alright. :D

    Damo,
You come to the fitz, you witness hands like that above, you say nice hand, you go to pub have 5 swift pints, come back and wait for said player to get knocked out of tournament and sit down beside him at the cash table...

rinse and repeat for the weekend.

I played the apat game 2 years ago, and I was amazed at some of the play, but I have since regularly played the Friday night Scalps game in the fitz so am no longer amazed by anything I see at the poker tables, or indeed at any card game. (except maybe Donal Norton)

    Yes im playing in this.

I was refering to Donal checking himself out of the hospital (with kidney stones etc.,) to play in the Irish Open.....

    Flippin heck!

Well, I've just confirmed the seat winners from last night and they are the following:

    5kinEM
    scouse3465
    technolol
    spudgun007fizzle
    HucknalEms

It took over an hour for the final table to play down to 5, despite ave. stack being less than 10bb. A good friend of mine went out on the bubble (6th) when his AA was cracked by QQ. AIPF and Q's make a str8 by the river.

Anyway, tonight is the clickfest for those with the means to do so.

Denise will be in tomorrow night for those who wish to pay in person at the Fitz and grab one of the 20 seats on hold.

I'll post the list of runners once we get the lot sorted.

Yup. Guaranteed anyone who got the page to load has spread it through MSN by now, and all the tickets are gone. Laxie, you're gonna have to come up with a better system for the tickets. This clickfest business is silly. Not accepting credit cards is silly. Not accepting Irish debit cards for an event in Ireland is sillier than silly.

Sorry guys, we experienced technical problems like we've never seen before at APAT. This started exactly at 9pm and stopped pretty much at 9.40pm. The seats are still on sale, so anyone who has purchased to date, will have a seat. If your card has failed then stop trying to re-purchase. I will speak to the payment provider about these tomorrow and I have the data in order of attempted seat purchase. We are very willing to allocate seats against those failed payments and send you a payment link in 48 hours time, when your card should be okay to use again. I will publish the list of successful entrants at 11pm on the APAT site and the list of people who have been allocated a seat, subject to payment.

    Apologies again.

One other thing. Nobody thinks it's more stupid that APAT cannot accept Irish cards than we do. As Laxie mentioned earlier, APAT is based in the UK and that is where our payment provider is. It's is one of the biggest payment providers to the gaming industry, but unfortunately due to Irish legislation, they cannot take Irish cards. We've allocated a number of seats to Denise and will do everything we can to help you play if you cannot get one. We will allocate any cancellations during the last week to Irish players who will be able to pay APAT on the day at the Fitzwilliam. You will be able to book any late cancellations through the APAT Seat Exchange as and when they become available.

I went into Fitz last night to get a seat for the APAT, had my 85euro in hand and was told to return on Friday? Are there still seats available in the Fitz? As I really want to play this event.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Laxie

Phew. Soooooooo glad Des called in here! I went MIA this evening and only just heard of the trouble purchasing seats in the clickfest. Everyone was affected, not just Irish buyers, but apologies again.

For the record - I predicted trouble on boards over a week ago regarding our payment processor and contacted Des. He in turn came up with the solution of holding seats for boards.ie members to purchase at the venue. We really have been trying to think 'outside the box' on this one to look after you lot, so please bear with us.

Will post the list of names as soon as they're up and we can work from there on whoever missed out.

Denise is the only one who can sort the transaction at the Fitz and will be in tomorrow to look after it for you. I'll phone to be sure of ticket numbers and post as soon as I have them.

I believe Denise has given away all the seats for the APAT that were the Fitzs to allocate/sell. she saved me one though :)

I doubt she will care now though as she is on holidays for 2 weeks starting yesterday.

So the only way to play now is by buying a ticket online? (or being an alternative?)
