Emergency tax and the dole

    before i was let go in work i was on emergency tax and i was taxed around €1500 if i claim the dole will i still be able to get this back?

    Tax and social welfare are separate. Tax is dealt with by Revenue and social welfare is dealt with by the Dept of Social and family affairs.
    You apply to Revenue with your P45 to get your tax back by filling out a P50 form.
    So yes you are very much entitled to get your emergency tax back - as you should not have been taxed it in the first place! :)
