Have you not seen some of the Blackout Avatars?
A lot of posters were using them in protest.

It's a bit racist, but I'll send a letter to my MEP regardless.

    This is the important part.
And the text that is being brought in, says that broadband providers must inform you of any limitations, or restrictions to your broadband service. Alternative versions use the word ‘conditions' - and it is seriously being proposed that you will be told the conditions of use of Internet services. This is made to sound good - it is dressed up as ‘transparency' - except that of course it means that the broadband providerwill have the legal right restrict your access or impose conditions, otherwise why would they need tell you? If the Telecoms Package amendmentsare voted in, the changes will not be reversible.

Going on this and this alone I think this is a good idea. ISPs have always been able to restrict access. Certain ISPs already block ports and p2p traffic. All net connections have download caps. A lot of ISPs don't tell you what it is though. This law that is being brought in just means that if an ISP is doing this they have to tell you. How is that a bad thing.

Also any isp can limit what sites you can access but any of them stupid enough to launch packages would more than likely go out of business very soon.

This is all just a load of scaremongering.

Next thing you know, it'll be nerds in the EU parliament, caught with a burning rag and a bottle of petrol.

Someone to give the French truckers some company then.

Bump. People email those MEPs. If this is true, you may have to choose between boards and something more wonderful (not that such a thing exists, of course... :P )

It's just a load of paranoid hippies getting worked up about this. There's nothing remarkable about the legislation.

'I'm meeting you halfway you stupid hippies!'
