Does anyone know of any nice online fabric shops that ship to Ireland? I've been looking around and the only nice ones I've found are based in the US where the shipping costs twice what the material I'm interested in costs. :(

I get most of my fabric from different shops on etsy - shipping depends on where the shop is.

Thanks a million for the replies. If anyone has anymore I'd love to hear them too.
I'm new to this so the only one I'd come across was www.fabric.com. Unfortunately while they do ship to Ireland the shipping costs are insane. Wish I had found that out before I went and fell in love with one of their fabrics. Now nothing seems to compare:o .

Yeah but it's still way way cheaper than Ireland.

I got 3 yards of gorgeous raw silk from them for €30 (inc P&P), It was €36 per yard in Hickey's and the colours weren't as nice.

I buy most of my stuff from Fabric.com in small batches (big batches get caught by customs).

I also buy from eBay and Etsy.

It's great to know their stock is good quality. I bought 4 yards of the material I like today. It cost €16 in total but delivery is costing $44!
It's so nice that I think it would've cost alot more here. 70 yards of it seems to have sold out since lunchtime today!

Never had to pay that much for postage tbh. The last order cost $32 in postage but I spent $50. It must go by weight or yardage

I've found the quality excellent. If I'm ordering anything other than cotton I usually buy a bunch of swatches to I can see the fabric before I buy it.

I've said this before, but I'd really recommend booking a cheap flight to London and doing your fabric shopping there. Prices are insanely cheap in some of the Indian/Pakistani shops. I bought a fabric there for stg2.50 a metre that I later saw in Hickey's for E25/m.

If you want more information, I wrote about my last trip in my blog.

I got an email today from www.fabric.com telling me they'd refunded me $18 on the shipping costs as they'd shopped around for a cheaper international courier since the last updated prices on their site. That makes the whole purchase more managable. I'm happy! :)

I was shopping on that street about 10 years ago and managed to find a fabric shop that I got loads of bargains in:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=GoldhawK+Road+Station,+Goldhawk+Road,+London,+United+Kingdom&aq=1&sll=51.500152,-0.126236&sspn=0.500967,1.234589&g=London,+United+Kingdom&ie=UTF8&hq=Goldhawk+Road+Station&hnear=Goldhawk+Road+Station,+Goldhawk+Rd,+London+W12+8EG,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.502674,-0.225316&spn=0,0.002411&z=19&layer=c&cbll=51.502616,-0.225593&panoid=-PMgHXaEubgtXajNcx8hsg&cbp=12,14.27,,0,-13.84

What were we thinking... we hadn't a clue where we were. great bargains at Shepards Bush market too but you'd have to speak up for yourself and know your stuff.

There are a few Asian sellers on ebay with good fabric at low prices but again the postage is the killer. I had to but Irish Linen from a seller there are I couldn't the colour I wanted here and the postage for 11 meters was £40.

The cheap flights only work out cheap if you live close to an airport.

Oh my god, you think that's cheap, try Serbia! I was getting wool-blends, linen and 100% cottons there for 1.60 a metre this summer!

Try fabric-dreams.co.uk you can order 3 free samples at a time, I find them very reasonably priced and they have a set upper postage rate regardless of weight. It's only coming from Germany so it's not too bad at all.
