Mercedes W123 Coupe parts needed

    Hi,

Just bought a 1978 Mercedes 230C W123 as per my other thread, and unfortunately the car needs a little bit of work!

It survived a fairly high speed 300 mile drive back from London, only for the water pump to spring a leak leaving the ferry! Also, the front wheel bearings have slight play and make a noise (advisory notice issued on MOT last month). As well as that, the drivers door has seen better days (odd considering the rest of the car is OK).

So, I need help sourcing the following:
    Water Pump & gaskets
Wheel bearings if required (can I just tighten them?)
Drivers door, and passengers door if possible

    All help appreciated,
    Ta

For W/pump & wh. bearings I suggest you try OTTO parts at Tallaght or Finglas, always founs them to be very good. Also you can purchase these on Ebay UK. Wh. bearings are adjustable if no excessive ware.

The door, as it's a coupe maybe a bit of a problem and might be just as cheap to have repaired. The UK is your best bet. Check the internet for specialist brakers, theres one in Leeds & Southhampton.

I've nothing, for now at least.
I've passed on my CE to someone who want to restore it. *If* when it's stripped down it is deemed too far gone it will be broken, but the plan for now is to restore.

I do want some W123 bits myself. If there's enough interest, trust and commitment could we club together and share costs on a shipment of bits or take a van to the UK and collect?

Mark Cosovich will have anything W123 related you need and he will most likley be here in July for the Terenure show so if you want anything large/heavy give him a shout in advance and he will bring it with him.

Bought two very good doors for my 280ce and only am pretty sure that I only now need the passenger door. Pm me if you are interested in purchasing the other door.

    Thanks for the replies!

Found the water pump on Micksgarage for €73 - is that a decent price?

I'll rebuild your door for you if you can't get one.

Anyone still after w123 coupe parts?

Sadly the one I have is to be broken for parts. I knew it needed work to inner and outer sills and to the rear arches. But on stripping out the interior to inspect properly... the front bulkhead is rotten.

    PM if interested in parts.

    Hi there,

On this thread I'm actually wanting to get a W123C. I think they they are beautiful cars but my concern is are there many good Irish examples out there and what kind of maintenance could I expect? Are they money pits particularly when trying to get parts?

The brother is a mechanic so that end of it will be taken care of :D.

Mechanically they are bullitproof and parts are cheap. If the bodywork is anyway rusty they WILL be a moneypit !

I have seen very few original Irish W123 coupes. Vast majority are UK imports.

Mechanically, they are very reliable and go forever.

Service parts are easy to get. Body parts can be got but some parts such as the door seals and chromework are expensive. Some interior parts are expensive and/or getting hard to find, such as seat bases.

The main thing to watch for with any 123 is rust.

I agree they are a fantastic car and a beautiful driver. A friend has a 280ce which has a decent interior/engine , body is rough but there are some decent panels on it. Wants to offload it as its taking up space. Pm if anyone interested.;)

Whats the battery tray like? If its anyway half decent, I'll take it.

Mercmad beats me to it again re: 280. Could be interested in some parts off that.

Gyp, I'll have a look at the battery tray and let you know; it'll be a couple of days but you know where I am.
