    Hey guys

I am thinking about hiring a personal trainer to lose some weight, how much does it cost? Do you think it is worth for me to hire one , as I am only an average income guy.

    Any suggeston is appreciated

    Hey all,

I'm in the same position. I really need some help. I have literally hit a brick wall. I go to the gym 3 or 5 days a week and I try to eat healthly. I am in the process of looking for a personal trainer. I am quiet fit I think but I'm just not getting the results.

I don't have a set program as such but I need a trainer to really push me or at least show me where I'm going on.

Can anybody help either Dun Laoghaire or Harcourt street area. PM me if you like. Serious post Thanks

    L

the main thing is pick someone that is getting results with clients already and that you get along with (they do not have to be your best buddy either).

Price varies but anyting under €50 and i would say they are not long qualified or just not worth it.

pm me with your details if you wish me to contact you and maybe just maybe someone here i have helped will give you some more info on what to expect and how they have gotten on, no point me telling you as i am not the customer.

Personally, I think a PT is the only route to take if you are serious about getting fitter. The right PT will keep you focused and manage your entire diet/fitness regime, and not just the hour or two week you are with them.

I think you will find lots of recommendations on this board - where are you located? Maybe that information would help us to recommend someone.

Definitely do it:D I'm one of the people that went to Transform - I got in touch with him about 2 years ago and money wise could only go every six weeks or so but it was the best thing I ever did. It's a brilliant service and I really do recommend it; it really makes you feel like you can achieve your goals when someone else believes you can and has put a plan in place to show you HOW you can. I haven't been at it much the past few months because I went back to college(nada money and nada time!), but I'm really looking forward to starting again now that I'm back working!

With regards to price; I've gone to another trainier who charged very little previously and I made very little progress - you pay for what you get and its really not worth your while going to someone who offers 'quick fixes' and simply tells you what you want to hear. You need someone who will be extremely blunt with you about where you're at, what you need to achieve, and how difficult it may or may not be for you to achieve that. Then once you know that, it's up to you to get stuck in - all they can do is steer you in the right direction. You have to be committed to it, otherwise you're only lying to yourself, if you follow the advice you'll make progress and if you don't you won't; it's as simple as that.

Anyways, that's just my experience, but I think its a great idea and its just one less night out a week really when you think about it. Which would you prefer - a killer bod or a killer hangover?:)

    Good luck!

Personal Training is a hugely worthwhile experience if you are committed to changing your body. If you are going just for the hour and not bothering putting the effort in for the other 23 then you are wasting your time and also the trainers.
From general research and chat I would personally recommend Transform as a trainer, very knowledgeable

I'm not a client of Transforms but I've seen him with clients and he's been kind enough to give me some tips when I'm not doing something right, it's clear in person and on this forum that he's very very good at what he does. I have no idea how much he charges but it would be money well spent imo.

What does anyone think of online training?

It can definitely work. I've helped a fair few people both on this forum and elsewhere get their lifts up via online advice.

I know of a couple of very successful US nutrition coaches who do most of their work online and over the phone too with great results.
