Killers has to be the the best game when a few of the lads call up! The banter does be great! We play secret killers which is more of a laugh as you don't know who is on what double! Any better ideas out there for a darts game which is a great laugh?

Has anybody ever played cricket? Is it any good?

Yeah the version of cricket i learn't is good
lets see if i can explain it

    One player bats
To score runs he has to score over 41 so 60 would be 19

    the other player bowls
to get wickets he has to hit 25 or bull
    25 = 1 wicket
    bull = 2

if the bowling player hits a treble or 1 of his darts goes outside the treble ring he gives that amount of runs away
    so t3= 9 runs away,fat 20 would be 20

if the batting player hits a bull or 25 he counts as hitting his own wiket and gives 1 or 2 wickets away and the score doesn't count

so bull is 2 wickets away and no score for that dart (it stops someone good throwing for bulls all the time whether batting or bowling)

You can play innings like a test match or declare a score if you think it'll be good enough to win

Cards is a great game ace to the king is one to thirteen, everyone gets 5 cards face down, and every time your number is hit you lose a card, if you've one card left you have to announce last card

If you've a pair left in your hand you don't have to warn anyone

Great game as you have to watch what everyone is going for and there is even an aspect of bluffing in the game

We like to play half it down this end after a comp or match, €2 a man maybe twenty players. good fun, in the house we'll usually play shanghi or killers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭abouttobebanned

The cricket we play is nice and simple...basically the batter has to get a high a score as possible using just the 20s (trebles and doubles included) with 3 lives. The bowler has to try and get him out, and then beat his score. 25 = half a live. bull = 1 life.

    Great fun.

There are all kinds of variations of different games. The shangai we play uses the 1-9 on the board...you start with 1 and try and get as high a score as possible with those numbers but you have to hit 3, 5, 7 and 9...miss them and you're a gonner. Get a shangai on any number and you immediately win. Both get to 9 and you just tally up your totals.

Cricket is the closest thing to chess in darts. It is a strategy game that you live and die with every dart.

It is also a battle of attrition as some games take forever to finish due to players trading score back in forth in trying to finish.

It's a great game to play and a horrible game to chalk.

crazy shang high. Might not be the real neame but that is what we call it. It is a greeat game if you prople of differing darts skill. You chalk up various numbers, doubles, triples even, odd numbers what ever you like. You finish with 25 and the bull.
Only darts in the target number been thrown for count.
Highest score is the winner. The catch is that if you miss your score is halved!!!

Great game good luck with it.

    Cheers lads!:D

I'll try these games out , should be a good laugh!

Another game I play is first to 300 by only scoring 25 or bull!

    Cricket Rules

    http://www.crowsdarts.com/games/cricket.html

Cricket involves hitting the following targets on the dartboard at least three times: 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, and Bull. A triple counts as three hits, a double counts as two, all other areas in that target are counted as one hit. Also, the double bull counts as two hits. Once a player has hit a target three times it is considered closed. When a target is closed, the opposition can no longer score on it but the person with the closed number can score on it as long as his opposition does not have theirs closed. Triples and doubles are scored accordingly (ie. a triple 20 counts as 60 points, a double 18 counts as 36 points). The single bull is worth 25 points and the double bull equals 50 points. The winner of the game is the person that has closed all of their numbers with as many or more points than the opposition. If someone closes all their targets first, but has the least amount of points, they will have to continue to score on those targets until he/she has caught up in points (they win the game once they have either equaled or surpassed their opponent's points

Cheers Rented, will try cricket at the weekend! Can you play single cricket or is there a similar game to play while practising?

You really need to find someone to play against in order to really get a feel for the game.

One of the locals back in Chicago used to have an electronic scorer on each board that was brogrammed to play Cricket, 501 and 301 on eight or so levels. This is one of the only ways that I know of to get a game of cricket without playing someone else.

this is a great game, its called Halves.

Basically its at least a 2 man game but it great crack. ill give the list in order and ill explain

    you start off with:

    Open score
    20's
    Trebles
    19's
    Doubles
    18's
    50 in 3
    17's
    Green
    16's
    Bull

^^^^^^^^^ Thats the format you throw in so take it down and keep it near bye when your playing.

    Explanation-

Open score - 3 darts open board
    20's - 3 darts to hit a 20
Trebles - 3 darts to hit any treble
    19's - 3 darts to hit a 19
Doubles - 3 darts to hit any double
    18's -- 3 darts to hit 18
    50 in 3 - you must hit a score of 50 using all 3 darts e.g 20+20+10
    17's - 3 darts to hit 17
Green - 3 darts to hit the green (25)
    16's - 3 darts to hit 16
Bull - 3 darts to hit bull

    The rules of the game:
you start off with your open score, write it down, then you follow the list down through the scores. you must hit the scores that you are on i.e if you are on 20's, you have to hit at least one 20. if you fail on all 3 darts your score is halved.

so if you start off with an open score of 100 and on your next shot you fail to hit a 20, your score is halved. if you hit a 20 you add it on. you can hit 3 20's and you add 60 to your score etc..

when on trebles/doubles, you can hit any treble/double, if you hit a treble/double on your first dart you can try hit another one to increase your score.. if you fail to hit any, your score gets halved.

50 in 3 - you must make 50 in a combination of 3 darts, all 3 darts must be in a score for it to count. if you dont make 50, go bust, or miss the board your score is halved.

its really easy once you get the idea and know the format. it really does go down to the last few darts, you could be losing all the way through the game to then win it right at the end.

its a great game to play whe a few mates are over and you can even throw a few euro in for the winner.

oh and lastly, when you half a score, round it up. i.e if a player is on 59 and his score is halved, round it up to 30. etc

hope i explained it easy enough for it to be understood :D

legendin24, have to agree, halves is a cracking game, always found the 50 in 3darts to be a great leveller :)

Anyone ever played or heard of Follow On?

    The basic premise was;
    everyone gets 3 lives.
Random player sets score, one dart, with 'other hand', opp of what he plays with
Say he hits treb 5 for example
1st player has to hit that score to stay safe.
If he scores with first dart, whatever he hits next is left for next player etc. Sounds simple, but, heres the hard part.

Say a player gets the required score ( big single, small, double, treb, whatever) with his third dart.
He then has 3 darts with which to leave as difficult a shot for those after him.
    Now the fun starts.
In this game, the rings of the numbers ( zero in 20, inside or outside ring of 8, triangle of 4 etc) count as legitamate scores.
The player could try to get one of these with his first and second darts, often unsucessfully, and then has to hit some score with his third dart.
A no score or a bounce out loses a life and the original score stands for the next shooter, and so on.

Dunno if I made that clear enough, but was always one hell of a game after a match and about ten pints of black ballygowan;)
