GCD and grants

    having a scan through studentfinances.ie... and can't seem to see GCD listed as a college for grant access? Anyone know why?

    GCD is private, I think? There was some court case some time about with someone who was going to a private college got a grant, but I don't know if they're openly accepting people who go to private colleges now or, more likely, you'd have to fight to get it still.

    so could you look at the listed colleges as provisional??? kick up a hooha and they might bend and issue a grant or two?surely the fact your required to pay full fees, leaving you 5 and a half grand in the red before you open a book or look for a place to live is taken into account?

    Well students going to private colleges were not entitled to get a grant before, so yes, unfortunately you'd have to kick up a fuss if they don't change the grant scheme. The yearly regulations are released in June each year normally.

    Im in Griffith and i applied for a grant with my local county council...

    I was told based on my parents income i would get a grant no problem....

    when they realised it was Griffith i was attending and the fact that it is a private college i was told because of this i was not eligible for a grant!

    I think this is extremely unfair!

    Thankfully i was able to obtain a student loan
