If yo are talking about Alli, a medication which has just gone on sale OTC recently, it costs abot 35 euro for 42 (take 3 a day) and you must follow a very low fat diet while taking them or you will literally **** yourself. They work by preventing your body from absorbing all the fat in your meal, and causing you to excrete in in your stool instead.

    Sorry!

Never heard of it. What makes it different from anything else?

Interesting. How much are they charging?

I wouldn't get too excited about the BMR measuring. My bathroom scales can do the same thing, and probably just as accurately. (If you live near Swords, you are welcome to try it out) If they were using a bodypod or something like that, I'd be more impressed.

The diet sounds as if you have to buy a lot of stuff from them, or did I pick that up wrong?

LMAO *in context to the post above it!

In fairness the medication might make you lose 10 stone quicker!

I am on Alizzone and in 2 weeks have lost 13lbs. So certainly faster than medication (which I have been on before). You do have to buy all the food from them initially but they gradually phase you back onto normal food. You also get treatments for the skin to stop saggy skin when all the weight is lost...this saves surgery later to remove that apron fat and bingo wings you get left with on conventional diets. Cost is about £200 a week to begin with but gets less as you start buying your own food. After you reach your goal weight you have a year of monthly follow up appointments (only £25 this time!) to prevent you regaining all you have lost. You also have blood tests throughout the treatment to stop any health problems. If surgery is your last option, don't! go for this instead, it is expensive but is still less than surgery and there is no risk of death!

i hate to be the one to point this out but you WONT have lost 13lb of FAT in two weeks, unfortunately some of lost weight could be muscle .. losing muscle is madness because it will slow your metabolism and you will be able to eat even less food when you stop the diet ... losing weight at that rate will leave you with lots of saggy skin and none of those treatments will prevent this unfortunately ..

That is not the case with this diet. It is doctor monitored and with regular blood tests so they will know if you start to lose muscle mass. There is ultra sound treatment to remove fat from the cells and to protect the muscle. THIS IS DOCTOR monitored, only available after consultation and you see the doctor every 2-3 weeks. It works on a similar basis as Atkins but is more rigid and you go into ketosis. Please I have researched this fully before joining it and I am in the medical field myself, as is my husband. It is not a wonder cure all diet as it is hard to follow and some people are not suitable but if you are and are committed it is safe and works. There is toning treatment to prevent sagging and after you have finished the diet you continue to see the doctor for a year to ensure that you are in control of your eating habits, it is also about re education. Please read the medical reports on this diet before assuming things.

you can not lose 13lb of fat in two weeks, that is absolute rubbish ... lipotrim and lots of other fad diets are also promoted by doctors so TBH that means nothing IMO ... if you and your husband are in the medical field how did you end up in a situation where you needed to lose 13lb in two weeks? losing 13lb in two weeks is NOT safe and normal ketosis wouldnt give that result unless calories were severely restricted. Do you really believe that this diet wont harm your metabolism?

on, and BTW welcome to boards.ie - interesting first posts!

Sorry I wasn't aware I was supposed to follow a posting apprenticeship as your comments on my 'interesting first posts' suggests I should. I simply replied to Kathy2 who asked a specific question I had some previous experience of. My post was not aggressive, rude nor selling a product I have any official connection to, your 'experienced' response was derogative in tone in it's first line. I am also a very good GP despite being overweight (not obese) as is the senior partner in my practice who smokes, the jobs and habits are not oxymorons and our vocations do not automatically make us perfect, I wish it did.
Putting Alizonne itself to one side I am happy to send you several medical journals about rapid weight loss if you really wish to be informed about the latest ideas where such weight lose is not impossible, tho' yes, must be monitored carefully. I stand by my first response, if you are thinking of gastric surgery try Alizonne first, the weight loss is achieved at similar rates, your body is under as much stress with each diet but you are saved the one large major risk of anaesthetic. I am sorry if that still upsets you corkcomp.

I stand by my original comment that you CAN NOT lose 13lb of fat in two weeks, if you are a GP then you must surely know this is not possible? Note, i did not say 13lb of weight loss was not possible, rather 13lb of FAT loss ... do you not think it would be more healthy to reduce calorie intake, exercise more and be patient as the results happen?
