Sub Woofer help

    Hi guys,
Wasn't really sure where to put this add but the modified car section seems like the logical place as i'm sure a lot of you would have sub woofers.

Anyway I was a bit tight for money so i went for the Mutant X sub and amp package up in halfords a while ago. Until recently everything was working grand.
I bought new speakers and put them through the amp also, one day I decided to clean up my car a little and ended up hooking my new speakers through the car as apposed to through my amp as it made much less of a mess.
When I hooked everything back together my sub wouldn't work and the protection light on the Amp which shines blue now shines red.
I'm just wondering is there anyway to fix this or would I be best off buying a new amp ?

    Thanks
Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place

Theres nothing wrong with your amp, its in protection mode to save itself from blowing up. when you were cleaning up and playing with wires you either knocked one out of its connection, didn't put one back in right or messed up the earth wire.

Check the earth first, check it getting good contact with the body. always helps to take it off, scratch the paint and redo it.

After that check all the wires, make sure none are frayed. check the open end (where you've taken off the plastic to expose the wire,) make sure its twisted tight and no strands are loose. when you put it into the connetion make sure none is overhanging and touching metal, this'll cause the red light to come on, protection mode. check these first and post back, there the most common faults. If you can, post a pic of the amp, more importantly a zoom shot of where the wires are connecting to it.

Brands are all the same mate, its a safety setting they all use, dead handy or you'd have a burning smell in your nose and a burning hole in your pocket.

Something positive is touching ground, check the remote wire going into your headunit, also make sure there's no stray strands of copper from the power or + to - on the speaker terminals touching anything
