Why are GAA players so unfit

Not trying to provoke a war of words from the GAA diehards but why are general fitness levels so low particularly at inter county level in the asociation in comparison to other sports in Ireland such as rowing and particularly Athletics. Is it a lack of willingness on the players part to partake in grulling sessions.

What exactly are you basing this on? You don't see anything rather disingenous comparing GAA players to athletes?

that is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. have you ever played against an intercounty GAA player?
rowing and athletics is a completly different type of fitness. they only run or row for half an hour once a month while GAA players could have 2 matchs a week.

tooler you are a tool . How naive can you be using this different types of fitness rubbish. A middle distance runner who runs approx 80-100 miles a week including three lung bursting track sessions not half an hour every month as you suggest. And to others I know plenty of inter county players who have been involved in numerous sessions to which I have attended and they have been destroyed by average middle distance runners ie school, college kids. These sessions have included sprints which covers the anaerobic capacities and well I wont go into distance as no GAA player in Ireland can run ten mile even at a slow pace.
And in terms of strenght endurance athletes are vastly superior just attend a circuit/core session of any decent athlete. They can outjump or outsquad any GAA player. Also unlike GAA players they do not have drink problems or beer bellies and TRAIN TWICE A DAY NOT THREE OR FOUR TIMES A WEEK like Gaa players.

LimerickLion abuse is not tolerated here. Judging by the way you have posted in this thread it seems like you are trolling.

I am locking this thread for now, if users want to discuss fitness issues surrounding GAA players then they can start another thread for a rational discussion
