    'It's Showtime !!!'

It just encompasses everything, extreme skill, physical talent, heart, toughness, training where over a number of weeks/months you turn yourself from a normal person into an animal. The mental toughness required, usually there's a good back story to a lot of fighters providing a bit of drama.
It's a one on one battle, pitting two men(or women, I suppose) against each other to see who's the better of the two.

But more than anything else it's the only sport(imo) that can be so brutal and yet so beautiful at the same time.

Big and Paul sum it up so well for me.

It's hard to explain, but top class boxing is IMO the most all around
amazing and skillful and beautiful sport. It requires more from a person all around than any other discipline on earth.

Plus, it's individual, one on one in a battle that decides who
is the most powerful and strong.

It's not like any other. Lets be honest, if you were crap at many
disciplines but great at boxing, it would make up for
    everything else.

Hey, you can whup me at tennis, pool, basketball, running, swimming,
football, golf, skiing, weightlifting, rugby etc, but I can still
knock you the **** out. To me, there's something a lot more special with
    this!

It is the only sport where other sports stars in their droves actually flock to see it.
The big fights have forever attracted folks from so many walks of life.

It's the pure tension, excitement and above all, the not knowing.
It can end at any instance in such devastating fashion.

That is why it's so brilliant and what separates it from so
    many other sports

Because its the most honest sport in the world, it doesnt
matter who you are ,once you step between the ropes
and the bell rings theres no place to hide.
