iTunes and Vista

Hey Guys, I'm having a problem with iTunes, in that after a few days it deletes my music library. The files still remain on the machine though. I've reinstalled the programme twice but the problem reoccurs. I've searched on google but can't seem to find anyone with a similar problem. iTunes not working wouldn't normally bother me, as I would usually listen to my music on Windows Media Player, however its playing up as well, in that when I play a song the volume fluctuates within the track, its very irritating to listen to. Any ideas on a fix for me? I guess I should mention that I had to reinstall windows, and these problems have only surfaced since that reinstall... That said I really want to avoid the nuclear option of a reinstall again.

Yeah I think this happened to me before. I had a few clients (home users) who had the same problem as well. Yet another reason not to use iTunes. I couldnt find a fix either. But what I normally try to do is structure the files properly in folders so that they are a) easy to find and add again, b) easy to move to another iTunes, and c) easy to use the files with other players. This is more awkward to do if the files are not tagged properly.

You might want to run a check on the hard drive but I think this is just an iTunes bug.
