I'm thinking of getting an iPhone and just wondering are they free?
or do you pay with your credit/bill?

Also can you like connect your own Eircom broadband to it and use that or do you just use o2 internet from the phone itself?

On bill you get a 1GB allowance on the iphone tarriffs then pay extra if you go over it and with PAYG you pay the data rates with your credit.

You can connect to your own broadband over wi-fi or any open wi-fi really

Hold off about another month if you are looking to get an iPhone. They will be upgrading them very soon and will more than likely include video recording, doubling of memory and faster processors.

Also the battery life on the iPhone is poor and you will have to charge every day at least. This should be upgraded also in addition to the new iPhone 3.0 software.

If you can afford it (€500ish), its better to buy an iPhone which is not locked into O2 for 18mths. This is the only real regret I have about the iPhone. Whether you are happy or not with O2 it makes it easier to switch later and upgrade with apple.
