When playing against my mates (some of them are awful) why do I get reduced to their level in some games?

Maybe I just think that they are poor players and I relax to much meaning that I don't concentrate.

Tonight I played best of 5, I won 3-1 against my mate but my average was a miserly 48:eek:! Complete rubbish standard for me!

Anybody else have the same problems?

it happensto me aswell. you know in your mind that you don't have to up your game to beat him so you don't, you should just get them games be for fun. but a bit of a warning don't keep playing with people worse then you or you will start getting worse. if you can always play the best players you can find, you might me hammered but you will feel yourself getting better:cool::D. hope that helps rat

Cheers Double Top, one of my mates brothers called up last week after coming back from Australia claiming to be a great player so I got motivated for this and I beat him 3-0 hitting 6 140's then I play my brother and beat him in a single game of 501 with 48 darts:o!

Yeah happens to me to, I tend to play my best darts when I am playing a better player. I never hammer anyone for some reason. I suppose it's all in the head.

I agree with Double Top, if possible you should always play lads who are better than you. You will improve much quicker that way.

First is you just can't be arsed concentrating as theres no real need (I lose more games this way than I'd ever believe possible.) another one is you expect too much of yourself and get frustrated when they don't fly great so your game gets worse.

In a tournament in Claremorris (1st round losers) I was playing a woman a couple of months ago, I went in first leg and finished with 16 or 17 darts, she was still on 350, got so bored and lost so much interest I started watching games going on around me, needless to say I lost the second leg, got so annoyed with myself that I tried forcing the 3rd leg and lost that 2 in about 60 darts. Was at the stage than where I was so annoyed/frustrated that I knew my darts were gone and I didn't really care I was out cause even if I'd scrapped through I'd never of won the next one.
