Best Ryanair Destination

    Hi there!!

I am a big fan of Ryanair for short breaks and use them a fair bit out of Shannon and Dublin. I seem to always go to the same places though and am looking for something a little bit different from my norm. I have travelled to London, Paris, Carcassonne and Basel and good few times.

What are the best Ryanair destinations out of any Irish airport other than the above...???

Krakow's a nice spot and Ryanair fly to the real airport there, not one miles away.

Actually, add Edinburgh to my "been there" list! Forgot about it!

Thanks for the Krakow suggestion though sounds good.

And Kerry.... I live closer to Shannon airport so might be easier to drive that one!

Pula is a nice place to relax in the summer. I don't think Ryanair fly there any more but they may add it seasonally ?

It might be no help, but I am reminded of a piece I heard on radio a couple of years ago, where a guy reported on trips he made to those places where Ryanair flights actually go. He didn't like Charleroi at all, and thought Beauvais was not very interesting.

Bergamo. They fly there and call it Milan.

i have flown to most places mentioned here with ryanair, but tenerife is the one place i wanted to go back as soon as i stepped off the plane in dublin

wonderful island with breaktaking scenery and tonnes of things to see and do and the only real blackspot is starcos/veronicas strip nightclub area of playa de las americas but thats a tiny part of a large island, visit the worlds seconds tallest active volcano, europes highest seacliffs, the beautiful Masca Valley, take a trip on a submarine or go whale and dolphin spotting, swim with turtles or ride a camel, if tenerife gets boring take a short ferry ride to the island of La Gomera

last trip with ryanair took us to zadar in croatia, again some great scenery just a few miles outside of zadar (5 national parks within 2 hours drive of zadar)

malta is nice but overcrowded, february is the time to visit valletta because its carnival time, nice in france has plenty of places to see, there are loads of day trip options from nice such as monaco, st tropez, eze, cannes

in terms of cities venice, rome, berlin, edinburgh, madrid, barcelona (reus has a world class themepark just a few miles from the airport) are worth a look, salzburg (though slightly over-rated imo) gives you easy access to wonderful western austria and places like zell am see and innsbruck.

not sure if ryanair fly to naples or not but 1 hour south of naples the amalfi coast, the isle of capri, pompeii and mount vesuvius are awaiting, if ryanair don't fly to naples then take the fast train from rome to naples (just over an hour 15 mins) and then change to the local Circumvesuviana train which takes you to all the places i mentioned

If you drive then Frankfurt Hanh is a good one

A lovely German town on the banks of the Rein (sp) called Koblenz is just up the road, with vineyards to boot.

About an hour away is Luxembourg City, a miniature version of Paris.

One of the best trips was to Pisa, and spend a quick night and see the tower then off to Florence on the train (1 hour) for some amazing sights, history, steak, coffee and so on.

I read a book called "Ruinair", it was about a guy who took ryanair flight to different places all over Europe and then wrote about the experience, what the flight was like, what the destination was like etc...

It was a good book and quite funny but if you read it you might decide on a few places to go...

Taormina in Sicily is great, it's a harbour side city, with the very scenic Erice medieval city high up in the mountains right next to it. If you hire a car, you can spend 5-6 days and get all of Sicily in, in a round trip including Mount Etna.

Dusseldorf was fun too, but there's about an hours drive from the Airport to Dusseldorf itself.

Krakow is also good, but you'll see everything in Krakow in a day, spend the rest of your time hiring a car and head south to Zakopane. Much more interesting with great moutains and national parks there too.

Friedrichshafen, picked it for a short break in February one year, small town on a lake at the meeting point of Germany, Switzerland and Austria (place we stayed in faced onto the lake with the Alps in the distance). We took a ferry to Switzerland, a train into the Austrian Alps and just wandered around the local lakeside towns. Picked it cause it was the cheapest thing left in the sale... :D.

La Rochelle in France is nice. You can fly there from Dublin during the Summer season.
It is a smallish city on the West coast. The old part of the city is beautiful with some nice boutique style shops and many restaurants and cafes.
The marina is stunning during the summer, packed with people and more restaurants. Highly recommended:)
