A friend of mine is working in a sales position, but her work permit states she is the "marketing" person. Now a lot of people have been laid off and some are makeing noises about reporting her to the immigration authorities as she is still working in the company and people believe that this is because she is from the homeland of the parent company (they may be right). Anyway, could she get into trouble if she was reported...and is there anything she can do first? Like ring immigration??

Difficult. Her best bet to be honest is to talk to a solicitor who specialises in immigration.

Wow would people really report her on a small technicality as a revenge for a loss of their jobs? Don't get me wrong I don't condone work permit or student visa abuse but honestly they are willing to get her deported for a Sales vs Marketing on her document! It's the same department in loads of companies.

Maybe she can ask to have the title of her role amended, for example Sales and Marketing Manager instead of Sales Manager? Or have some marketing added to her duties?
