Watching cable you're not paying for is illegal.

I assume you are either renting or bought the house 2nd hand, the previous owner/tenant either had a service (paid or otherwise).

Normaly when a customer closed an account, they send a "Dear Occupier" letter a little while later to try to win the new occupier, and eventually will physical cut off the premise eventually.

As another poster mentioned, your are illegally stealing cable tv, the fact of how this came about is irelevent, you need to either cease this, or get a paid sub.

There is a law that states it is illegal to watch cable or any pay TV you didn't pay for. This site didn't write the law. The OP says he doesn't want to get in trouble for this, we told him the law.

By the legal definition, he is stealing. You should write a letter to him signed by you that says he "isn't stealing anything,he's taking advantage of the cc's own stupidity". That way he will be immune from prosecution

I like how you imply people who don't break laws are "goodie goodie types"... society crumbles...

You're probably the same sort of sad tosser that had an orgasm when ntl put an end to the 'dodgy boxes'

Society crumbles because one person takes advantage of a multi-national companys own ineptitude?

You can be billed back to when you moved in.

If there is cable, it's up to you to cancel it. I have done this at 2 addresses in Dublin and 3 in Limerick.

Otherwise they are entitled to bill you.

It's a pay only service. Like Electricity, phone or gas, you are liable for what you use, even if you didn't sign up, if it is already connected.
