A teenage joyrider has been killed after stealing and crashing his father's powerful Mercedes in a high-speed police chase

Rambo Osmanovic, 16, was driving the Mercedes E270 at speeds of up to 130mph when he lost control as he tried to outrun a police patrol.
The car veered off the road and crashed into a lamppost in Hyde, Greater Manchester.

The schoolboy was thrown through the windscreen and pronounced dead at the scene.

His businessman father, Moso Marinkovic, is said to be inconsolable after his death.

The incident happened in the early hours after Rambo took his father's 155mph saloon.

He was spotted by police racing a Subaru in Coach Street, Mottram, near Manchester.

The Subaru sped off but the Mercedes stopped on Hyde Road. But when the officer got out of his patrol car the Mercedes sped off.
Police pursued the Mercedes onto the M67 before losing sight of it as it left the motorway at junction 3.

The officer found the luxury car had crashed into a lamppost at the junction of Fernally Street and Clarendon Place in Hyde.

Another person who was also in the car was taken to Tameside Hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.
He has since been arrested on suspicion of taking a car without consent.
Osmanovic had, 24 hours earlier, been arrested for taking a vehicle without consent and bailed pending further enquiries.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has launched an investigation into the crash.

Chief Inspector Haydn Roberts, from the Traffic Network Section, said: "Tragically a young boy has died as a result of the collision.

"I am eager to speak to anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the Subaru or who has any information about who may have been in the car."

Poor kid. Hopefully this story might make other 16 year olds think twice before taking a car.

Yes but he was a child. Did you never do something stupid when you were 16? We're not talking about an adult here, Rambo wasn't even old enough to shave.

Natural selection tbh. If you're gonna do stupid shit like that then you're gonna pay the concequences.

Im gonna take it, go raching and then run away from police in it". You seriously think thats just an innocent mistake any 16 year old could make? Bullsh!t

Rambo killed in a car cash while joy riding?

    What next?

Rocky knocked down after stealing a tricycle?

    What wrong with this world?

My condolences to the father. It must be hard for him at the moment. Having to cope with his loss. I hope he manages to get a new Mercedes.

As for the child, well natural selection, if you can't do the time don't do the crime. The kid didn't deserve to die though but still he was in a dangeorus high speed chase that have been known to kill hundreds like him so it's not surprising

Why not? He stole two cars in 24 hours, including his own father's, and could have easily killed someone else driving at those speeds. He got exactly what he deserved. The only sad thing about this is that his family have to grieve for him.

I agree with everyone else you said though.

In a way this is kinda like the kid who finds the handgun in his parent's room. Except that in your blind curiosity with a handgun you dont go screaming down busy roads at 130mph in a half ton missile. Sad story all the same.

    BAN MERCS!

I think I went out without a jacket one winter day ...

I've little sympathy for the kid, if they can't see the consequences of driving a powerful car at high speed ... umpteen kids have died in similar circumstances and it hasn't given anyone a wake up call

So he stole the car while out on bail after being arrested for stealing a car.
Sounds like he wasn't wearing a seat belt either.

Father Fintan Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car and drove it into a big wall and if you don't like it, tough! I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.

    Absolute lunacy from the kid.

I wonder would the posters here be cracking as many jokes if it was their son or relative.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 34,567 ✭✭✭✭Biggins

As he had just done the same thing beforehand and got picked up for it, it tells me immediately four things.

    1. He didn't (or wasn't willing to) learn his lesson from previously being arrested.
    2. He didn't care about the effect his (prior or current) actions would have on him or his family.
    3. He had no regard for the law or peoples property for which they worked hard to buy!
    4. He clearly had done this type of thing before. He didn't just pick up this robbing car skill and confidence (to do so) over night!

Its sad to say but generally, in cases such as him - the public will say "No loss" to his death.
The only sad sympathy is for his parents who are left cleaning up the sons mess.

The only saving grace is that he didn't take a pedestrian or police man with him to their deaths also with his thoughtless, reckless actions.

No I probably wouldn't. But that's only because I find it funnier when it happens to people I don't know or care about.

Im sure we wouldn't, but if everyone took every bad thing that happens to heart you would be depressed 24/7.

Dont take it so personal, because the Sly Stallone jokes aint.

No I probably wouldn't. If he was my relative, I'd too busy being embarassed that someone I was related to could be that stupid to crack jokes about it. His poor family not only have to deal with his death but also the idiotic way that he met his death.

Nope, i would be at the Merc dealer.;)

    Worst thing about this story?

Some kid somewhere is reading about it and thinking "What a legend".
In fact, half the posts in the "Fantasy Death" thread read similarly to the news report.

Nobody is going to learn any lessons from this story.

well this is where we come in...

Any hoodie muppet joy rider who reads this thread will think "if i die racing around, no one will have sympath for me. And they will make fun of my name on Boards.ie".
He will then desist from joy riding. Problem solved.

We did something good here today.

I dunno if I can be sympathetic...

My neighbors kid tried the same thing with his sisters car... Luckily he hadn't a clue how to drive, jumped off the clutch and the car flew into another neighbors jeep, took the side off it. Cue him pushing the car back to where it was parked in the first place and running off down the road before realizing he never put the handbrake on. Car rolled off down the hill into a wall.

Caught the whole thing on camera, laughed my ass off!
