I'm playing MHF2 a lot at the moment, I've had it for ages but only got addicted to it recently myself! I have XlinkKai on my old PC, but I find Adhoc Party on the PS3 to be far far better. You'll have to set up a Japanese PSN account (if you haven't already) to get it, and your PS3 needs a wired connection. I connect my PS3 through my laptop to get around that though if you'd be able to do that. What HR are you? I'm HR3 at the moment but my fiance is HR5, heh. She has like over 100 hours on her save

Well im using a cfw so im able to play mhp2g lol. Im currently in hr 9 (mhf2 is only until hr6) playing in xlink kai coz most of my friends are there. If you get mhp2g lemme know maybe we could meet and have an adhoc session ^^

They're really very good, but they're best experienced in multiplayer I'd argue. Yes there is no story in these games but the gameplay and character development (armour/weapon wise I mean) are brilliant. Playing in a group of 4 people and finally succedding to take down a powerful dragon is a great feeling. They're hard games, which I like, as a lot of games nowadays are too easy. (Unlike Demon's Souls :D)

Monster Hunter can be a bit like a nature documentary at times, like how you have to watch and learn the animals behaviour before you can fight them well, and when you beat them you unlock little cutscenes that show the animals in their habitats. If you do end up getting it you should use Adhoc Party through your PS3 and I can help you to get up a few levels :D

Yeah this game is good imo. You have to be patient and observe the monster's movements before you can defeat it effectively. After that, you can unlock new weapons and armors using the materials you got from the monster. A bit repetitive coz you will face the monsters again and again to get the desired weapon or armor set. Theres nothing more satisfying than wearing the monster youve slain and parading around town lol. Btw, each and every armor set has different skills and you may need to combine different armors to get the skills that you need and you may have to put gems that increase a particular skill. I already have more than 450 hours of gameplay and im still addicted lol

I think i'll wait for the EU release of Monster Hunter Freedom: Unite.

Goth, you run CFW? does CFW not effect signing into psn for Ad-hoc party? Also i though ad-hoc was PSPs connected directly to each other?

Yeah I have CFW, it doesn't affect your use of the PSN at all, so Adhoc Party works fine. Adhoc Party uses your PS3 as a bridge for the PSP connection, so you can connect to people through ad-hoc as though they were in the same room, when in fact they're connected through their PS3 anywhere in the world.

I will be buying MHF2U when it comes out here, but at the moment I'm running the Japanese version with an english patch.

Hey goth, doesnt the adhoc part require your ps3 to be connected thru lan? If thats the case, i wont be able to play thru that then coz my ps3 is connected via wifi and i dun have that long of a cable to connect it to. Guess ill stick to xlink kai then lol

I also play mhp2g with an english patch and will switch to unite when its released here provided that they come up with a converter from mhp2g to unite asap lol

I picked up MHF2 when Zavvi were closing. Got it for €9. Knew nothing about the game only that it was a big hit in Asia. Hopefully get around to playing it soon! :)

No... I have MHF2 on UMD but my fiance really wanted to play MHF2G so we decided we'd use a CSO of it with the english patch until the UMD releases here. I figured it was okay as we're going to buy it when it comes out here in June.

I read on kotaku they are making a psp bundle for it here. I hope they set up ad-hoc party for EU.

Someone on kotaku described it as being like PSO in a way. That has me interested in it. I loved PSO back in the DC/xbox days.

I wish I'd gotten MHF2 for €9! Let us know what you think when you finally get around to playing it.

I would love for that PSP bundle to include a different colour PSP with felynes on it or something. You know that you can download Adhoc Party from the Japanese PSN right? Or do you prefer to use stuff in eglish if you can? It's really not hard to use. I'll have a look for the tutorial I used if you do download the Japanese one. I hope they localise it for here and the US though, it'll increase the number of people to play with a lot :D

Well the only PS game I've played was the Phantasy Star Portable demo, and it was very like Monster Hunter combat wise, although Monster Hunter is a lot harder.
