If you listen to those bands, you'll know which songs are the good ones, learn the ones you like? Does it really deserve a thread?

I wouldn't really call those alternative indie... more like pop rock.

Um... that's just not alternative indie.

    Great, another 'what-is-indie' debate.

OP, can you not just pick what songs you want to learn yourself? Jesus, do it ike everyone else...

I know they mighn't fall into the category you're looking for but the songs below aren't too hard to get the hang of.

Metallica - Enter Sandman (you should get the intro riff with a little bit of practice and the main riff shouldn't take much longer)

Nirvana - Come As You Are

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the instruments forum! :pac:

Seriously though, OP was looking for advice, if ya have none then stop reading and move on to another thread...

OP can honestly say I've never drifted to that side of music but I just had a quick browse around some tabs and these look pretty easy...

Good Charlot - Boys and Girls
Fall Out Boy - Beat It

There are probably some tutorials on youtube on how to play them so have a gander and see what you like/think is within your ability!

(I feel dirty now, must shower, uncleaaaannnnn) :pac:

    Sorry.

I dunno if you're into more heavy music than just GC and FOB (I'm not a metaller at all), but if you have a bit of a taste for metal, I learned a lot when I started learning some Pantera and Iron Maiden stuff (specifically Cowboys From Hell, Domination, and The Trooper). Fair enough, they might be a bit much at this stage (You said you haven't been playing very long), but there is a lot of technique to be learned from the guys like Dimebag Darrel. If you want to learn guitar, you might as well throw yourself in the deep end at some point
