It's probably not even real leather at that and is most likely MB-Tex.

Reminds me of an 08 A3 I saw with wheel covers and a cream leather interior

    ** MERCEDES-BENZ STAR SELECT **
SOME REASONS TO BUY IRISH: 1. KILOMETRE CLOCKS, 2. LOCAL SERVICE HISTORY, 20% UK IMPORTS CLOCKED, 3. FULL DEALER WARRANTY ON ALL CARS, 4. CONVENIENT PURCHASE LOCALLY, 5. SAVE TIME & TRAVEL EXPENSE, 6. STRONGER RESALE VALUE,

the reasons they give to buy irish are ridiculous,i doubt many people are concerned about km/h clocks most cars have both anyway,20% of uk cars clocked:eek: i wouldnt be to worried if it was a brand new car i was after!

anyone have any idea how much this would cost if bought up north??

To look on the bright side, alloys are one of the easiest things to retrofit. They're also not subject to VRT if they don't come with the car from the factory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,389 ✭✭✭cianclarke

..possibly the most miserable new MB for sale in Ireland today?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,171 ✭✭✭triple-M

20% of imports clocked???? i wouldnt be suprise if the % of irish cars clocked was nearly the same tbh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 629 ✭✭✭cashmni1

To be honest, anyone who went to the dealer and didn't ask for alloys upon their purchase (of the car mentioned) would want their head examined.
Otherwise, the person in question does not give a ****e about the way the car looks, which to be fair is pretty bad anyway, but just wants a new Merc in the drive way.

Its also just a heavily facelifted version of the previous model rather than the newer C Class saloon.

I saw one of these at the start of the year. Thought it was nice.

That is the new model isnt it??? CLC??
I dont see anything wrong with it, apart form the lack of alloys which could be fitted in an hour if you wanted, but i guess that was to keep it under 40k, and alloys arnt every ageing womans cup of tea.

Autotrader Uk seems to be down, best I could find was this, a 2008 Sport CLC fully loaded with 2899 miles:

    http://www.autoweb.co.uk/car_detail.asp?cdID=3910784&cdMake=62&hidMakeText=&fdtype=all&image.y=15&cdModel=CLC+Class&fdMin=%2D1&radFuel=%2D1&fdMax=1500000&radTrans=%2D1&radius=500&zipcode=&image.x=11

You'd get it for £23k no bother i'd say, thats €26100, plus €9853 VRT, thats €35953, plus your flights, ferry, plates and fuel so you're looking at €36500 minimum.

It's a close one, i'm not sure what i'd go for considering you'd get a fair whack of the Irish one if you stuck at it.

This model looks way better than the last one. The front grill makes it look dearer and more impressive than its actual cost.

I can't understand the lack of alloys though. They make a huge difference to the look of the car.

The front is great, but the back? Still looks like a cheapo merc IMO...

Anyone stupid enough to buy straight of the dealer's forecourt deserves poor value for money and a horrible colour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,470 ✭✭✭JoeA3

As Bazz said in an earlier post, it's actually a heavily facelifted version of the now ancient old-model C-Class. And from what I hear, its a very poor drive, not that that would bother most of its target market!
    One to avoid me thinks.

But the back looks awful, especially the filler panel above the rear lights.

You would get a big whack off that price for sure.........but North or South of the border who the hell would want to spend next to near that amount on such a sh*t car

I agree it's not the best looking at the back but it could look an awful lot worse and certainly looks better than the previous one.

Don't know what they were thinking with the filler panel. Is it on all models of it or just certain specs?

It is to make the lights look like the current gen c class without having to change the rear quarter panel pressing. Money saving exercise unfortunately.

    Care to explain?

If you are going to spend 30K+ on a car, then why wouldn't you want to choose the details? Especially with the amount of time that most people spend commuting.

Plus buying a car that has already been kitted out usually means that you end up spending money on stuff that you will never need just because you think that you are getting a great deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,949 ✭✭✭SouperComputer

Couldn't help but laugh at the 20% of UK cars are clocked comment....So by definition, 80% are not clocked. Right so, I'm off the the UK. In any case at least there is a somewhat reliable way to verifying mileage there.

Sad, very sad. I guess business is bad as it seems they cant afford to replace that keyboard with the stuck caps key d:

I'm very happy with the 520d I bought off the forecourt from Joe Duffy in Jan. Got an excellent deal including a great trade in on my 07 S40, better than most Volvo dealers were offering. It was an unregistered demo, with less than 200km on the clock so I got it at a demo price but registered as the first owner too. I love the colour and the spec.

Sometimes the right car is there waiting! :D

Great to hear, glad you got the car you were looking for without having to make the trip to the UK. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 103 ✭✭igglou

    Cheers!

I did consider it, but I'm an 'anything for an easy life' kinda person so reckoned a local dealer would be handier! (sometimes this works for me, and other times it goes terribly wrong and I get so ripped off! :) ) I had visited 2 others before Joe Duffy so knew I was getting a great deal and I absolutely adore my new car!
