WAYNE MARDLE has had to pull out of the Nottingham leg of the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts after being rushed into hospital.

Mardle had initially been cleared to return from a virus for Thursday's event, having missed the visit to Exeter last week through illness.

He was due to play two matches on Thursday night at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham on his return, but was unexpectedly taken into hospital on Wednesday evening.

The Essex star, 35, has been kept in hospital for tests, which means he will be unable to play in Nottingham.

Mardle's absence has led to a reshuffle of the Premier League's fixture list, with Mervyn King and James Wade now playing twice at the Trent FM Arena.

King will open the night against Jelle Klaasen, with Wade then taking on Terry Jenkins.

King returns for the night's third game, against Raymond van Barneveld, before a repeat of the 2008 Premier League final between Wade and Phil Taylor rounds off the action.

Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts
Night 11 - Trent FM Arena, Nottingham
    Revised Fixtures
    Jelle Klaasen v Mervyn King
    James Wade v Terry Jenkins
Mervyn King v Raymond van Barneveld
    Phil Taylor v James Wade

Wow, maybe he is sick and not looking for extra time to improve

Yeah sounds reasonably serious. Obviously his health comes first so wish him a speedy recovery.

Personally, I wish him well, from a darts point of view, the best week of darts was without him so really looking forward to the darts tonight

But get well soon and all that jazz

That's if he comes back, he's meant to be in a bad way, has a bad case of mumps and was injected with morphine earlier today to ease the pain. If he does not come back next week he will be dropped from the Premier League.

    I hope he gets well!

if he cant go on would they bother bringing in another player at this stage to bring up the numbers?
Wouldnt mind seeing Gary Anderson getting a go next year. Looks a very good player. Has reached a couple of PDC regional finals already since the crossover.

As far I know they will not bring in another player as there is only three weeks left in the league format and they will probably cancel all Mardle's results from past weeks.

hes been poor all season though in all honesty. reckon he needs to give up the showboating and just concentrate on his darts a bit more. Seems content to be the runner up provided he gets a big cheer from the crowd.

He has been rubbish in the Premier League, only gaining 4 points so far and was a very bad pick by the PDC! I'd also agree with you're earlier post about Anderson, I hope he does well in the televised tournaments also and earns a place next year!

and again another great week of arrows without him no disrespect to wayne but it shows what the league should be like with 8 competetive players ie' thornton hamilton lewis priestly etc, he's been under pressure to prove himself since the start,

I really enjoy being quoted like that, bit of ego, bit of tonight being a great night of darts

It's not Mardle's fault he's not good enough week on week, Mardle does bring down the standard, but with mumps, my main concern is for his health!! Mardle the character adds alot for the casual viewer and I'd never wish ill on the man.

Selfishly, Mardle the thrower, well, it's like showing up at an Oasis concert and being told Liam has a sore throat...haha, no **** and just the talent

TBH, giving up his pre match routine isn't going to improve his matches, it would make him less infuriating though. I hope he's better by next week because i think it'll affect the table adversely, although i don't look forward to two or even three mardle matches in one night!

True, I'd hate to see a guy being screwed outta his spot by illness, but in fairness, Mardle has been crap in the league for three years now
