Rolling Maul to come back?

Did I read somewhere that the rolling maul is to come back next year? The ELVs tried it out and a decision was made to re-introduce it next year. This would be good for Irish rugby especially for Munster who used it to great effect down through the years.

This is true.

The rolling maul was never gone it could just be defended by pulling down. I have seen a few games where teams have mauled 20 - 30 metres.

Word from the IRB is that the maul will come back with a new wrinkle - once the ball gets to the back of the maul the player holding it must immediately break from the maul.

If you think about this a little more, you'll see that it's not quite as easy as that. There are knock-on effects from what seems to be a very simple change...
