Doing Rome solo with slightly limited mobility

    Hi

I have a disability that limits my mobility somewhat. Im not in a wheelchair and I can walk for miles but certain terrains can be tricky. Due to friends been tied up with work Ive decided Id like to do Rome solo.

Would tours like the Coliseum be tricky? When you're inside it do you actually have to "climb" anything? Would any other of the "must see" sights there be physically difficult?

I want to make sure I have all bases covered.

    Cheers

    Hi

As far as I can remember (it's a few years since I went inside the Colosseum), you would need to climb one or two flights of stairs to get to the upper levels but nothing too strenuous. All of the major sights are easily accessible on foot but you will need to watch your step as the cobblestones can be extremely uneven in places, and Rome is covered in cobblestones.

    Have a great trip!

Rome can be done without too much hassell - there is a lot of walking involved but again that can be avoided as there are a lot of tour buses which will take you all over Rome. The walking aspect comes into it when you you reach a destination - i.e. the Colosseum but there wouldn't be any "climbing".

However, one thing to note is that although you may only think you are walking short distances, Rome having been built on (i think) 7 hills - would be extra strain on your legs - but again - you can avoid the walking part to a large extent in Rome.
