    had a lubrication service with 4.5L of 10w40 semi in autofast in ballincollig cork for 89 euro. Great service and a nice pretty detailed report on whet might need seeing to aswell. Didnt ask for anything else unnecessary to be done which was nice. Just said Id put in a good word if anyone in cork needs an oil change. The few little extras make it a bit of a bargain.

    Apart from changing the oil and filter, what else did they check?

    * Up to 5 litres of semi synthetic oil (10w40 or F5w30)
    * Replace oil filter
    * Check and top off fluid levels
    o Power Steering, clutch and brake fluid
    o Transmission and Differential fluid
    o Battery Water
    o Radiator coolant
    o Windscreen washer fluid
    * Inspect lights and wipers
    * Check air, cabin/pollen, and fuel filters
    * Check and adjust tyre pressure
    * Clean battery terminals
    * Visually inspect brake pads and tyres
    * Visually inspect belts and hoses
    * Chassis inspection
    * Lubricate doors and windows
    * Reset service interval indicator
    * Provide continuous service history

    They checked the gearbox oil level too. To be honest its nothing more than an oil and filter job but thy did seem to spend some time looking it over. (nothing you couldnt check yourself mind!). They use shel helix plus 10w40 too which is a desent oil.

    I can't see how they are making any profit if charging €89 for a SS oil change.
    They do a fully synthetic service also - http://www.autofast.ie/fully-synthetic - mind you, my car takes more than 5L of oil so i wonder how much they charge for the extra!

    If I had to guess they "hope" to find other jobs that need doing. In fairness I replaced my air filter myself last month but said nothing to them, they told me after the air filter looked new so no need to do anything with it. I imagine the oil costs them about 30 quid and the filter about 5. When you put the half hour labour on top of that they make very little on the basic I imagine....

    Mine took about an hour as I have to get the oil "sucked out" due to a dodgey sump plug. They said they got 4.5 L out of it which is just as much if I took of the sump plug.
