Transatlantic jet diverted to Shannon

I posted the full newspaper report here already but I'm sure it's of interest here also:)
A 767 diverted to Shannon yesterday after the pilot suffered a suspected heart attack. The captain of flight AZ604 bound for JFK international was rushed to the midlands regional hospital immediately.
My prayers are with the pilot, hope he will be alright

I was listening to Shannon ATC at the time and I heard the controller say that the emergency services would be wating for them as soon as they land... I didn't know what was going on at the time. Thought there was going to be a crash!

Hope the pilot is ok.

I sure hope so too. Ill have a gander on liveatc and see can we get the audio from it:)

they would of been told about 10mins out from landing depends on the airlines SOP'S with us its the pax get told very little normally only told that we are diverting due to technical reasons

Had a look myself, theres comms when he came back off the ocean OK (please have emergency services, suspected heart attack etc), but it happened when they had passed 15west, so they werent talking to Shannon, but Shanwick. So theres no liveatc for that.

Heard the captain is in the regional in Limerick (-god help him!)
