What real musician would bother with this kinda stuff?? Your instrument is supposed to be your own thing, with a story and a history and a bit of meaning. Guitars aren't ****ing DVDs!!!

Anyone who's actually into guitars will buy guitars. So then you get guys (or girls) who are going to rent guitars, whether it be to play them and pretend they're people they aren't to satisfy a midlife crisis, or as a display piece like a painting or something. How is that not pretentious?

A custom shop strat, even though not my cup of tea, is a very well-built guitar. But it's been well-built so that it can be played by a musician. Any musician worth his or her salt will OWN INSTRUMENTS. And someone who doesn't own instruments but will pay $400 a week for a great guitar is pretending.

I'm not saying you're going to get this with everyone, but do you not think that you're gonna get people saying, "Oh, I was playing Brian May's guitar last week, it was a beautiful instrument... What do you have? A Squier? Oh, right..."?
