Heading there for a wedding next year, have been looking up flights and they're pretty expensive, as are hotels

Can anyone recommend any cheap flights/hotels over there?

Also, what's the city like itself?

    Hi Chocoholic,
Try flying to cyprus and getting the boat across. You used to be able to go on a cheap ''cruise'' to Israel from there ( basically as we say in ireland take the ferry) from Limassol. Ferry company sorts the visa and you spend the night on the boat in a cabin, looks after accomodation.

Otherwise Id look at flights from Amsterdam, Antwerp or Heathrow to Israel and Ryanair it to one of those.

Tel Aviv, is all modern shiny buildings etc and is on the beach. Security can be a little overbearing but youd have to expect that.

Israel is very small so you might get to go to Jerusalem also and see the sights.
