    Well, fuzz/distortion, tone sucking **** ****in **** ****** no low end sounds piece of ********** **** ***** !!1!!111!

    <phew>

Now thats out of my system....

Any time I add any sort of distortion to my tone it just melts into the guitar and disappears...

Any idea how I can give it a lil balls?

Try mixing a wet and dry signal to your amp. Should be able to do that with a Boss LS-2 or a host of other line-selecters/mixers.

Ahhh I knew that (at some stage) I'll give it a blast thx...

As Dord mentioned above a blended wet/dry signal has always given me the best results. I use the Boss LS-2 and ODB-3. Gives a really nice sound to my ears.

Have also been experimenting with an octave up effect and distortion, only applying the distortion to the upper octave and keeping the bass signal clean. Really happy with the way it's sounding at the moment and it's really adding to some of the heavier pieces with a three piece, especially during guitar solo's etc...

Your AMP has an effects loop.... use the distortion through this if possible that will give you the blend.

I know a lot of people will be on about big muffs etc ... however i have at this stage used them all and imo only two pedals can compete in a rock band (particularly if two guitarists)

Personally i love the dawg and i think i paid about 250 squid for though i cant seem to find this in any of he usual online EU websites. savage heavy pedal.

The new bass big muff works great for me in a band. It has a dry blend mode, where the overdrive and clean are blended. You can adjust the ratio too. I know what you mean about getting lost in the guitar, used to happen with my Boss ODB-3, but the bass muff still sticks out just fine.

I used to have a Big Muff but sold it and got a custom made Fuzz pedal made to my tastes. Its geared towards bass more and can get pretty extreme if you want it. Also has a high cut switch built in.

I use the Metal Muff with the top boost, it's pretty hard to get lost in the mix with that ;)

That said I'm interested in trying out the LS-2 with it now, a dry/wet mix could make it sound better.

Split the signal in practice last night, definately improved the sounds but still, could be better. I'd say I'll get there with a little more tweaking!

How about asking your guitarist(s) to tweak their sound a bit so that you can fit in better. Maybe roll off the lows a little.

I have a drummer that has his skins way too tight to the point that they can drown out 2 amps and a PA, a guitarist although very very good at what he does doesn't know how to string/tune a guitar properly or know what an eq is... No understanding of levels and amp positions to accommodate the small room we use.

    Just noise really.

Any time I try to explain it its met with a complete lack of interest and understanding of how important this stuff is.

If I didn't love the music so much.... lol :pac:

Ok, well... that could be the reason why you can't hear your bass. You guys need to work on that other stuff.

Might just pop into the room when they aren't around and do it for them :P

    Don't think they'll notice :pac:

So I sorted out the room, everything sounds great, no muddy fuuz ball of poo anymore!

Now that I can hear my bass I'm dying to sort out my pedal situation...

I'm getting a Micro Bass Synth, switching to a Russian Muff and gonna get a blend pedal to dial in my clean tone. Anyone suggest a decent one?

TB suggested this http://www.bargeconcepts.com/vbjr.html but I don't really trust their opinions too much (not as much as a boardsie anyway :pac:).

That one should be ok. :)
