Have a quick question, and nobody laugh! :D I have a virus, or what I think is a virus on my laptop. When I start it, a screen comes up saying there is a problem and it will shut down in 30secs. Im going to leave it in to be repaired, but is there anyway the repair shop will no what was looked up on the laptop? My boyfriend just informed me that he was looking up a few adult sites which could be the cause of the virus! But it will be me dropping the laptop in! I will be mortified! Any help appreciated! Thank you!

turn off the laptop. when turning it back on keep pressing F8 and boot up in safe mode . do a system restore to the last known date the laptop was working then reboot normally
    this should fix it

ok that sounds like a prank i used to do to people's computer's in class ,

what i did was make a command in cmd prompt, that when activated the computer shuts down in 1 min, i then add that program to the start-up files ,

so every time they turn on the laptop it shuts down with a min,

has any1 been on your computer since before it happened, if your bf knows a bit(even a little)about computers i'd give him a talking to

If its not patched to date it sounds similar to Sasser/Blaster et al - try Milkey's restore point idea.

    - Also supervise your other half at ALL times - even in the shower........ :D
