    A chara...

I'm really not that bothered about the tests, but, when DTT is up (supposedly this year) what will I need?

Currently, despite paying my telly license it is impossible for me to recieve RTÉ anolog. I have Freesat HD being pumped in by sat, and is the only TV I have.

4 out of every five houses in my area (Esker Hills, Portlaoise) have a sat. No one has an aerial.

When buying my sat, I was informed that also getting an aerial was pointless as it's "impossible" to get RTE in my area. This was blamed on the train tracks right beside us for some reason (gibberish?)

Sooo.... I called the nice folk in RTÉ, and they told me they were not going to get me analog TV as DTT is to be rolled out this year, and that this should fix the issues I am having.

They said when being broadcast, an Ariel should be fine from anywhere in Ireland to pick up the signal.

    Is this all true?
WIll I just need an Aerial and a Set top box to get the RTÉ DTT channels?

In a nutshell yes unless you are in a blind spot. As with everything a little knowledge is a dangerous thing so it might be advisable to do a bit of research although if you just wait until it is officially announced then no doubt someone on here will tell you how good the signal level is.

To help you get a greater grasp have a look at this nice site, ideal for beginners.
