Leather Interiors - Black or Beige

I'm just curious what peoples preferences are. I kinda like the beige/tan look, I think it has a sense of luxury, but I was just reading an online review of a car and the reviewer said he thought that beige leather looked tacky. What would you buy given the choice?

Depends on the colour of the car.

    Black/Silver - Black Leather
Dark Blue/Dark Red - Cream leather.

Someone here suggested dark interior for light car paint & light interior for dark exterior paint. Makes sense to me.

I also remember someone saying tan leather can be tarnished easily with say blue jeans leaving a mark...

black leather shows up cracks far easier so on older motors definitley beige or a re-finish,

beige however has a tendancy to turn yellow so its also a kick in the face there too. depends on how good the leather is and the age of the car, colour is also important : any dark shade of blue, green or black : beige is your best friend, any other colour then black might be the way to go.

also if your dash is wood-effect either, if its brushed metal or carbon fibre has to be black leather

I have beige, I do think it looks better but black is a lot more practical.

I have both :) I agree with light interior for dark exterior & vice versa, nice contrast. The beige looks dirtier after similar periods of use but black definitely shows up wear a lot more.

Now I would disagree with you on a few there...

    Tan/Cream Leather - Black/Blue car exterior
    Black Leather - Red/Silver exterior

Can also depend on the car

Beige, no matter what the exterior, I hate coal box interiors.

Black all the way. Beige is just plain greasy.

Light leather shows up all the stains, agree that light/dark combos look best.

Beige leather. Have a black car and the light interior looks bright and spacious.

What about red leather? Looks deadly on a black car imo...

The upholstery will also reflect the colour of the leather. I like my black (dark grey) carpets. Were I to have cream carpets, I'd be constantly cleaning them!

If you've kids, definitely go with black leather (heated too, if possible).

I have the cream carpets, but with black rubber mats over them. Kind of defeats the purpose of having cream carpet. Thinking about it logically any bright colour carpet is just nuts.

I think it depends on the quality of the leather too. Some leather or leatherette finishes are terribly cheap looking and it shows up even worse on certain colours. My car has a silver exterior with dark grey or charcoal leather interior but I do like the look of beige or tan leather (exterior colour dependant) from an aesthetics point of view but practically with a child under 10 dark colours are easier to keep.

I do like red leather interior too depending on the car, exterior colour and quality of leather finish.

Black tends to get very hot and sticky on sunny days. Just something worth remembering.

Another hater of black leather here, it's far too Russian mobster style for me. :D
It also dulls out an interior, you loose the detail of the interiors shape and design.

Light coloured leather all the way, I searched for months for a car with a very specific specification and cream leather, but I simply couldn't find it and settled for the next best thing, light grey buffalo leather. But you can't beat a cream interior. It looks especially good with dark carpets.

    Sheer beauty:
