I like it a lot. A bit rougher than the last album she did with Parish and her vocals are more out there (think of what she was doing on White Chalk) but excellent nonetheless.

And as for the youtube link, it's a video of Television playing a guitar riff almost identical to the opening track of the Harvey/Parish album.

To me it is almost a parody of a PJ album.

Been a bit patchy since Stories... to be honest. Both album after that were decent, but hit and miss. Still great live though. The Parish album is ok

Er no. The last two were far better than Stories and more her IMO. You cant call Uh Hu Her patchy as there is so many great songs on it and White Chalk is amazing.

The argument about them being "more her" doesn't wash with me, in the sense that whether or not an album conforms to an artists regular asthetic really doesn't relate to the quality of the album.

For example, and god knows an Alt/Indie forum will crucify for mentioning them :P but American Idiot is the most "un-Green Day" Green Day album, but imo, far and away their best.

Similarly, Graceland sounds nothing like other Paul Simon records, and is his best.

    Long-winded post, sorry. :o

I haven't heard much of the new album but I must say what I have heard I've really liked.

And White Chalk is my favourite album by Miss Harvey, I think its a masterpiece. Not to say the rest aren't either!:D

White Chalk is in my top three along with Stories... and To Bring You My Love. Uh-Huh Her is great too. I can see why all her albums may not appeal to everyone but I can't see how anyone could class any of her albums as average.

I'm amazed at the criticisms of Uh-Huh Her - love that album.

It's too bad the song "Uh-Huh Her" never made it onto the album, she used to play it live (and another that didn't make it) and it was fab.

Have only listened to the new album a couple of times but have to admit it just seems to be more of the same. I find this happens a lot with artists who have been going a while. you love their first two or three albums and then buy the next five, six, seven releases hoping they will some day recapture that old magic.

In fairness White Chalk was a pretty unique entry into her career discography. Yeah this one is just her lazily using some of her signature hallmarks, themes and structures just to put out an album. In doing so in my view it is kind of disappointing as in the past she has been pretty protective and used great judgement over using those signature hallmarks, themes and structures.

I always find someting new and interesting in PJ's music. She's one of the most interesting artists of the last twenty years.

Yeah, very surprised that more people don't like Uh Huh Her. That's without a doubt my favourite album of hers. I thought White Chalk was a bit flat.
