I've got two weeks off in Jul/Aug and would like to go on a relaxing sun holiday-probably a package deal. I havent gone on one of these package holidays in a few years but just want to relax around a pool. Ive been checking out all the usual operators-budget,falcon,direct holidays etc but they are so expensive even with the downturn in travel. So i thought maybe ill wait until a week or two before and see whats on offer then. What are these offers usually like-is the accomodation usually in the backhole of nowhere?? Any opinions please?

just because its last minute doesnt mean you will get the back arse of nowhere, just means that the resort isnt full. Drop into any of them a week or 2 before you want to go and they will have offers in the windows and you can see the resort in the brochure.

Oh and shame on you for going on holidays during a recession! :D

Why not go in at the start of June and see what they have on "last minute" at that stage and check them out. If they all look crap then don't chance it for your holiday! If some of them are decent then you might be lucky for your holiday too...

My friend did this last year and went to somewhere in the North of Italy and she loved it.
