TERRY JENKINS is ready to give up darts for his love of ART.
The Bull will hang up his arrows in a couple of years to go back full-time to his passion for antiques and property.

Hereford thrower Jenkins has collected paintings since the age of 14, run a furniture business and since become a wealthy property tycoon. No wonder he hardly has time for the sport he calls just a hobby.

But the Mr Nice Guy of darts, currently No 5 in the world, is determined to win his first major title before he finally gives darts the brush-off for the canvas.

Jenkins, 46, admitted: “I’ve only got maybe two years left to play.

"I’m not going to carry on after then. I really enjoy the game and being on the PDC circuit but my true love is furniture and art.

“I’ve been collecting paintings since I was 14 and to be honest I’ve lost track how many I’ve got, certainly in the hundreds.

“In some ways I stumbled into the PDC. I had my furniture business but the lease was up on the property I was based at and someone suggested I should give darts a proper go.

“I’ve always kept my hand in with furniture and for a few years now I’ve been investing in property. Between my two brothers and I we own probably over a dozen places which we’ve bought and rented out.

“To be honest, I’ve been really busy lately with that business. It’s such a great time for buying property I’ve been working hard at keeping my eye on available places.

“Some of these places we’ve bought up will sell in a couple of years with a profit of about £200,000 — and we’ve done really well out of it so far.

"It’s something I’m really eager to get back into on a full-time basis. I love my darts too but it really is just a hobby to me.

“We earn really good money at darts but that’s not what motivates me. I don’t need the money, I’m already very comfortable financially. It’s enjoying what I do that motivates me.

“What I’d really like is to win my first big TV title and then I’d be content to give it up and go back to my real job.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly for an antique dealer, Jenkins has shown he’s as tough as teak on the oche.

Last week’s 7-7 draw with Phil Taylor meant he has not be beaten by The Power for two years in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League.

Woolly Bully faces James Wade in Nottingham on Thursday night needing a victory to stay in the hunt of making the semi-finals.

He added: “I enjoy playing Phil, he’s the reason I joined the PDC so I could test my game against his. But I don’t fear coming up against him, I actually enjoy it. It was a crucial point last week.

“I’m only a few points adrift of the top four and if I can beat James I reckon I’ll be right back in the mix.

“It’s obviously important to me to make the semis as I’d love another crack at a final. The last time Phil beat me was in the Premier League final of 2007.

“If I can reach the final and maybe beat Phil that would be the ideal scenario. It would be the perfect sign off for me in darts before I go back to art.”

I wouldn't believe anything printed in that rag, I wouldn't even read it in the first place.

    Different strokes.

I'll be gutted to see him go. Jenks is the kind of player you can constantly root for and who will always give you a moment of sheer class when you least expect it. A true gentleman, darts will be the poorer for his absence.

Absolutley no offence intended to the OP but its not really a story. And as ratinakeg says, it is impossible to believe anything from that evil rag. Disgusting "news"paper.

Suppose it's proof that you should never trust anything printed in The Sun paper!
